The Rocket Software MultiValue team would like to invite all Rocket® UniVerse customers to participate in our UniVerse 14.2.1 beta program starting on January 22nd, 2025.
The beta program is the most valuable way for you to contribute to the development process of UniVerse 14.2.1, your insights help us ensure the final release meets the needs and expectations of the whole customer base. Additionally, we are also giving you the opportunity to test a beta version of U2 DBTools 4.6.1 prior to its release.
Should you decide to participate these are just some of the new feature and functionality highlights you'll find in UniVerse 14.2.1:
- Shared Structure Recovery Framework for the Recoverable File System (RFS)
- UniVerse 14.2.1 will have full RFS functionality, in this release RFS can now be toggled ON or OFF via the RFS_MODE uvconfig parameter. RFS protects your system by preventing file corruption in the event of a system failure ensuring high availability.
- Protected File Configuration
- A configuration file is used to identify the protected files within the application when the RFS_MODE is ON.
- Index Awareness
- Index awareness improvements have been made to allow updates to an index whilst the index files are open. This improvement ensures indexes remain consistent and in sync in the event an existing UniVerse process updates an index when the index file is already open.
- BASIC extensions
- The BASIC language has been extended to support try/catch functionality, making it easier to process errors within your application, and to provide native support for JSON.
- File Level Command Recovery
- A cleanup operation will be performed to leave the system in a consistent state if a file level command, such as CREATE.FILE, terminates before completion.
- Partial Write Recovery
- A recovery operation is performed to prevent data file corruption when a record update involving multiple file blocks is terminated before completion.
- An upgraded version of Python to v3.13
- OpenSSL FIPS mode
- Beta version of U2 DBTools 4.6.1
- +++ many enhancements and bug fixes
