Would UV/NET still work across different platforms like between a Solaris Unix and RedHat Linux platforms?  We are looking at moving to a new platform and it would be much harder without UV/NET.

Yes UV/NET can be used cross platform, please refer the UVNet User Guide in the Rocket UniVerse documentation set for further information on UIDs and GIDs.

Note, there are some restrictions in terms of being able to communicate between different release versions of UniVerse. Typically related to changes made at major releases. For example, UVNet cannot be used to communicate between a 12.1.1 and an 11.3.x release.
Will the versions of UV installed on the Solaris Unix and RedHat Linux servers be similar? If so, there should not be an issue.
