  • 1.  Git next release?

    Posted 07-23-2020 12:42
In the older forum there was a comment  by someone at Rocket that Git 2.26 was being worked on and targeted for Q3.

Wondering if there is any update on that and if Q3 is still the target?

Yes.  It is already released for our customers on support contract with Rocket.  However it is important to note that it will not be available for download using our old download process (Rocket Support Portal).  All new Rocket ports are going to be delivered via conda.  First step to obtain Git 2.26 will be to install z/OS Miniconda on your system.  This will then enable you to download our ports from internet channel (or eventually on-premise file channel or network channel).  Today we have a secure on-premise conda channel on Rocket's network that is exclusively for Rocket customers on support.  We also have set up a public channel hosted by anaconda.org available to anyone.  Although z/OS Git 2.26 is not yet available on the public channel it will be within a day or two.  If you want to learn about how to use conda on z/OS, please watch this 20 minute video.  If you want to just start by downloading and installing z/OS Miniconda, go to the Rocket Support Portal and you will see a new entry for Miniconda under Downloads tab. The documentation on how to install z/OS Miniconda and migrate from your existing z/OS Git is available for download from the same download page and attached here for your convenience.
