When upgrading from Passport terminal emulator or any other terminal emulator to Rocket TE, there are three steps you go through:
1 - Install and configure Rocket Terminal Emulator. It's easy to follow and there is great content – videos, tutorials, and documentation - available on the Rocket Forum and on the Rocket Community Portal to support you
2 – Upgrade all your sessions and configuration settings. That is the "Switch to Rocket TE Utility" that we showed you in the demo today
3 – Migrate your macros and scripts. Sometimes we have the capability to automate the conversion of scripts. We can also offer you professional services for higher volume and/or more complex macros and scripts. Our team can look at your macros and scripts and provide a plan to convert them.
We have several of security features. We showed you some of those in our presentation and demo.
You can get into the Rocket TE (Web Edition) through LDAP. There are five types of authentication options: Rocket TE Server, LDAP, MS SQL Server, None, and SSO.
Once you log into LDAP, you are on your network. Depending if you have an authentication policy for your mainframe, you'll need to authenticate there as well. Rocket TE (Desktop Edition) would not have an authentication process because it is a software application on your desktop computer.
When you go to the Rocket Community Portal (RCP) where all the product downloads are available, you'll only see Passport downloads if you are a Passport customer. You can download and try Rocket TE here.Once you have successfully moved to Rocket TE (please reach out to your Account Executive to complete the process when ready), your current and future downloads will appear there.
Yes! We want you to try it and we are confident you will really like it. You can have both installed to see if you like Rocket TE. Once you are ready to upgrade, your Account Executive can help you switch licenses, and then you can leverage the switch utility that is available to upgrade all your settings and configuration. You can also ask for Services package to help with macros and scripts conversion.
Any customer who is has an active maintenance contract or subscription can utilize our Technical Support team.
If you decide to upgrade to Rocket TE using our automated switch utility tool, that is included in your paid maintenance or subscription.
If you need help migrating your macros and scripts, or if you have a more complex installation need that requires Professional Services, that would be in addition to your maintenance or subscription charges.
