Uniface Technical Alert: Patch X605 Withdrawn

The recently released patch X605 has introduced a side effect in IDF.

When an IDF form is started, message 0163, “Indirection failure; field %%$sub not available” may appear on the message line. When leaving the form, Uniface asks if changes should be stored although the user did not change anything.

The side effect is introduced with the fix for bug 30880, “Problems for forms started from extended trigger since patch X503.” After this fix, a proc box in IDF becomes active before it is completely built up on the screen. As a result, the Start Modification and Value Changed triggers may be fired, although the user has not done anything on that field yet. At that moment the 0163 error message is displayed.

At this moment, we think this issue is unique for proc boxes in IDF because other widgets do not become active before they are completely built up on the screen. This is an unacceptable side effect and therefore we have withdrawn X605 from the download site. Soon, a new version of patch X605 will be released without the fix for bug 30880 and its side effects.

A new version of patch X605 without the fix for bug 30880 is now available on the Uniface download site. This version no longer has the problem that was described in the alert post.
