Does anyone use SSRS (Sql Server Reporting Services) to report D3 data.
We've tried using the D3odbc and SQL mappings on D3 files, and it works very easily using Excel, but SSRS cannot see the D3 data source.

This needs to be usable at an end-user level, so no program writing involved. MVC Toolkit and OpenDB seem to involve programming and some expense.

We would like to know how anyone else is doing this.

I had one other person ask about this. Don't remember who it was. I believe the problem centered around SSRS attempting to communicate with D3 using language that requires ODBC v3.x compliance where the D3 ODBC server only supports v2.5.

Is it possible to get the D3odbc upgraded to v3.x compliance ?

Since I'm not real familiar with SSRS, are you trying to access D3 as a linked database in SQL Server or do you somehow access it directly from SSRS?

We're trying to access D3 data directly from SSRS.
We've created SQL mappings on D3 files using CREATE-SQL-VIEW, then we're able to access this data from Excel very easily.
However SSRS cannot see the D3odbc data source, therefore cannot access the SQL mapped D3 data.
It seems Brian Cram is onto the problem, the D3odbc only supports v2.x odbc. It needs to support v3.x odbc in order for SSRS to work.
The Excel works because MS-Query supports v3.x odbc.

Hmmm, after some wrestling with all the different pieces necessary to create a RS report in VS 2019 I was able to connect to the D3 ODBC DSN and generate a very basic report.  Is there a specific message that you are getting back when you try to set up the D3 data source?

    Thanks

Wow excellent, there is no message generated.
When I was creating the RS data source, I could not even see the D3 odbc DSN.
We're doing something different from each other !?
How can we resolve this please ?

I'll send you an email and we can set up a time for tomorrow when we're both in our respective 'offices'.
