  • 1.  Filter list of file shown

I want to access a specific member of a PDS on the mainframe. This PDS contains thousands of members. I would like  to be able to specify something like

    aaaa.bbbb.cccc.dddd(myfile*)

or similar. I tried entering the example above as shown here

    but received this message

Is it simply not doable or is there some form of workaround?

Actually, I'll reply in part to my own post. The list works in the same way Windows does with any list; start keying in the prefix of your filename, and focus will automatically scroll down to the starting member.

Having said that, I would imagine that the creation of the PDS member list would be much (?) faster if the s/w only had to look for specific members.

    Hi Michael,

I am afraid that most FTP servers do not support partial listing with wildcards. From the 501 error, your FTP complains there are some invalid characters in the remote.
    Reference: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/9282753/ftp-directory-partial-listing-with-wildcards

I think RTE (BlueZone) FTP also supports to find and focus to the file with the prefix you are typing.

    Thanks
