We're pleased to announce the release of Rocket® MV BASIC for Visual Studio Code v2.2.0 with full debugging functionality.

Rocket MV BASIC for VS Code (MVVS) offers features to help your developers modernize, simplify, and work more productively in one of the most popular development environments, Microsoft Visual Studio Code (VS Code).

This release provides full debugging functionality for UniVerse v 11.4.1, which was also released today. The debugging capabilities are based on gRPC making the release stable and high performance. gRPC is a modern open-source remote procedure call (RPC) framework that efficiently connects services within and outside data centers, offering customizable load balancing, tracking, health checks, and authentication. It utilizes Protocol Buffers as a lightweight binary data serialization format for defining data structures and interfaces, known for efficient encoding/decoding and version compatibility. Combining gRPC and Protocol Buffers enables efficient, fast, and reliable communication between client and server.  Additionally, we packaged debugging data compactly and send it directly to the client, which will significantly improve data transfer speed and the stability when processing data.

Six legacy bugs fixes are also included which resolved the following:

    • ·        A compatibility issue with MV BASIC for VS Code 1.79.2 release
    • ·        $INSERT files report errors in MV BASIC Editor
    • ·        BASIC command SDIV displays an extra symbol "," in the prompt message
    • ·        The variable's value in the subroutine is not showed correctly on the "VARIABLES" part
    • ·        Values in the dynamic array are not split properly and were displayed as a string containing special characters
