Hi,
We have a green screen application that presents a list of data to screen from which a selection is made to move on to a second screen to edit the selected record. On the subfile screen an X is keyed in a field alongside the record to be maintained to select it and Enter is pressed to select and move on to the editing screen.
This seems like a perfect candidate for using a LegaSuite Combo box, but when I try it the list of items in the combo box list has all the visible values from the subfile field concatenated in to one long field to be selected in the drop down list. I am also not sure how to configure the Combo box to pass the select value of X in to the relevant selection field on the green screen.
Am I misunderstanding what a combo box is used for? We are testing this out for a new green screen application where we aim to deliver just a drop down list to the LegaSuite page.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Steve

Have you tried putting the combo box in a container list? That way you give your combo box an index to work with.
If you don't like this idea you should be able to achieve similar through script.
Let me know if you want a WebEx and we can discuss further.
Thanks, Sarah

I have tried placing the combo box in a container list, following your suggestion. I now get a combo box on each row of the list with the single entry for that row within it.
We are currently planning for a future project and may need to change the way the green screen works but I was expecting to get one combo box which displayed a drop down list of available entries. The combo box would display the items in the list and then pass an X to select that item to a separate green screen field in the subfile to move forward to the next screen.
Does that sound feasible?
Thanks,
Steve

It does, yes. I need to see the host screen to be able to better advise, however.
I'll reach out to you directly so we can discuss further and look at options.

Thanks for your time this morning.
The subfile in question is a code with a description and a selection column.
After discussion we believe that the best option here would be a grid.
For large subfiles, you could use the list collection / selection functionality to retrieve more than one page of data in one go. Andrew Simpson posted an example of the collection process on this forum.
We also discussed the option of filtering for values. I have just checked and the grid does actually have an option for filtering but I think there are two options which would be suitable:
- Change the green screen and add a filter field
- Use a list collection / selection and script for filtering. The important thing with filtering, when using a list collect/select would be to work with an index so that it's possible to set your selection against the correct row in the subfile.
If you have additional questions please let me know.
Thanks, Sarah
