Is the use and setting of the FCD information different between native COBOL and NET COBOL?My reason for asking is that I have taken the code from our native application straight across into a NET COBOL equivalent and I am finding that setting the address for the file name and key block is not being taken across to our external filehandler correctly.

Upgrading tomcat for using Rest/Event Service v8.3.2.We have been able to upgrade to tomcat version 11.0.25.  However, the tomcat server manager web page is displayed as binary (non-readable).Has anyone successfully upraded tomcat?

While using the ETX software, I noticed that users with identical usernames can log in successfully even if their passwords, home directories and shell paths are different. Only a matching username is required for login. My test‑case details are listed below: 1. The ETX server is integrated with LDAP. The LDAP user `user` has the password `password123`, home directory `/net_home` and shell path `/bin/csh`. There is also a local user with the same username `user` on the ETX node server, whose password is `password456`, home directory `/home` and shell path `/bin/bash`. Under this scenario, the user `user` is able to launch a virtual desktop successfully on the ETX node. And it picks up the home directory and shell variables from the local `user` account on the node, instead of the values from LDAP.2. Hi allIs it possible to save a file (fx .pdf, .docx) in a vision file?Currently I copy the file to the server and creates a record in a vision file with the original file name and server file name. So, when the user need the file, I can copy the server file to the client PC.It would be easier to maintain, if I can save the file in the vision file and extract it when the user needs it,Regards Kim

I am running Enterprise Server 10 (patch 14) on Windows.  I am connecting to a region on the server using a hummingbird host explorer 32 emulator.  Prior to enabling TLS on the server the emulator would connect.  Since enabling TLS the connection times out.  Can some one point me in the right direction for configuration settings to check?  thanks.

I’d like to configure the system to read the LDAP list of users (Name and SamAccountName). I have perused the documentation on creating an LDAP path, and defining ‘entities’ to allow for data retrieval. However, I am utterly lost, as I have no knowledge whatsoever if the underlying structure to be able to make out the definition of the ‘entity’. This seems to be untestable in a step by step way, you have to have the server, organisation, etc all in place to do a test, and I don’t know if my selected answers for any of them are in the right ballpark so I can’t configure a baseline test. Has anyone got a simple ‘person’ entity for LDAP I can ‘borrow’? Regards, Iain

We recently observed that fields with vertical scrollbars were behaving oddly.  If you clicked in the field, you lost the text.  Once you clicked somewhere else, the text came back. We narrowed it down to our INI setting for NoEditBox for Transparency=T.  Once we removed this setting the vertical scrollbar fields worked as expected.  Of course, now we had to go modify any NoEditBox fields where that transparency=T was no longer inherent.Has anyone else seen this behavior?  

Is there a Telnet setting in Microsoft’s standard Telnet program that will recognize the column and row positioning from a D3 basic program, along with clear screen “PRINT @(-1)” etc.It all works with ACCUTERM emulating a Viewpoint terminal, but I have not been able to find a setting that works with Microsoft’s Telnet.  Is address locations possible in standard Telnet?

Is there a parameter which can be applied to the installer which does NOT attempt to install the urouter, and/or tomcat and the relevant users and groups? When we install clients we don’t need any of these, and it is sometimes giving us permissions issues trying to create users we won’t use, preventing installation. After a successful install we delete the services, so as not to leave listeners on ports which aren’t going to be used. But I’d much rather not configure this stuff in the first place (the user(s) are still created which is a potential back door to logging on to the machine….) Also a parameter which allows us to control where the installer is ‘unzipped’ to, as certain client installs are failing because the unzipped files cannot be accessed. Regards, Iain

I was curious if others are running into printing problems with recent Windows 11 updates (at least I suspect that is the cause).  We have had about 5-6 customers report this problem starting 6 weeks ago. When they print from our software running AcuCobol-GT Windows Runtime, they get a pop-up box from saying "please wait for printer connection or cancel connection". Some are reporting it eventually after waiting will move on and print. Others have said they have to click Cancel once or twice to get it to move on. Yesterday, we had one that says sometimes it will not print at all. We are wondering if it has something to do with this new "Windows Protected Print Mode" that is showing up when you look at printers under Windows Settings as this seems to be something new Microsoft is doing. Our main problem with these clients is that all of they claim that it ONLY does this in our software running AcuCobol-GT, and that they can print other things such as emails, websites, out of Office, etc

I’d like to update my copy of Rocket Terminal Emulator from 10.1 to 10.3. However:RTE 1.0 help says “Download the Rocket TE CD image”, but it doesn’t say where to download it from. The only download page I could find is one that offers a 30-day trial and requires an email address, name, etc. Rocket Terminal Emulator is not listed on www.rocketsoftware/en-us/products. Even in this forum, “Rocket Host Access” is the closest product name I could find.Where do I find a copy to download? Thanks.

How can you call up NOTEPAD from within D3 on a Windows 11 machine?I tried…EXECUTE “!NOTEPAD”The program seems to try to shell out, but it doesn’t call up notepad.I’m coming from mvBase and have shelled out to NOTEPAD from there extensively.

We have may programs that use basic format like “R%8” to prefill zeroes that were not entered or came from Excel who loves to strip them off.We just updated our development server from 11.3.1.6022 to 14.2.1.If your basic program takes a number in missing leading zeroes, “R%8” would turn 1234 into 00001234 in UV 11.3.1.  However, on 14.2.1, it acts like a simple “R#8” and does not add the leading zeroes.Does anyone have an idea why this functionality changed and what to do to correct it?  This could damage many of our files’ data that rely on this functionality.Nelson Schroth

Implementing a mainframe modernization project using Rocket ED and Rocket ES on AWS. Target will run on RHEL. ED v11has been installed on AWS Workspace for individual developers.ES v11 has be installed on RHEL 9.8. On the ED, developers are creating remote projects on ED installed on Single Shared Linux box where the code will be compiled and tested. During development environment setup, we experienced challenges with remote compilation/builds from Enterprise Developer (on aws workspace) to a shared Linux environment. As a workaround, we provisioned dedicated EC2 instances for individual developers, with ED installed and configured on each developer server. This approach was also intended to provide isolated development workspaces and local Git repositories for concurrent development activities.Would like to confirm:Whether provisioning a dedicated EC2 instance per developer is recommended/supported architecture for Rocket Enterprise Developer.
