I am trying to make use of the ISO2002 option and ISO 2002 style program prototypes.  I’m running in to two, perhaps unrelated, issues.Even when I specify $set repository"update on checking on", no external repository file appears to be created. If I, in a separate calling program, code a program prototype for the called program, it appears to check for call parameter conformance correctly, but with a correctly coded call statement I end up with a fatal error, shown below.* Options: NOLIST NOASM* 912-S                                                                      ****    Internal error - Dictionary invalid r/w . Does anyone have an accurate handle on how and when AUTOLOGOUT triggers?   The manual says….Use AUTOLOGOUT to enable or disable automatic logout. With AUTOLOGOUT enabled, UniVerse logs you out automatically if you have not pressed a key within a specified time.But I don’t believe that is accurate.   We’ve had some confusing results in testing.   A process on a loop with periodic TIMEDATE() displays (output only) does not trigger.  Similarly a loop process with no screen output but just a SLEEP X also does not trigger even in between loops before it goes back to sleep.So, we are trying to understand the actual nuts and bolts of how/when it triggers.   Thanks for any help.Steve DouglasVP Systems AdminMBMS, LLC

I have an application written in MF Netexpress 5.1, within this application I'm trying to use Tree View thru Python I did use the following command:CALL "SYSTEM" USING "python fa_tree.py"it's working but it displays CMD black screen which is I don't want that, is there a solution for this issue please?

i will have to upgrade a universe server and a unidata server in the coming year. i thought why are we running both. when i upgrade the unidata server should i convert it to universe. is it more work than doing the upgrade itself. if so how much more work.

What happened to The Forum after the upgrade? We used to get an e-mail when somebody posted to a forum that we were registered on. Since the upgrade, nothing, nada, nil, zilch. So do we have to logon to see if there is interesting happening?

We have a customer using this old version of SB+ and they want modifications to a GUI screen to add a bunch of columns to a grid.  On the character screen, the first column is a dependent mv, and the second column is the controlling mv.  The prompt sequence on the screen has the dependent properly following the controlling mv.When regenerating the GUI form from the character version, the dependent properly shows to the left of the controlling mv.  However, when modifying the form in the GUI Form Builder, the dependent shows up on the left in the form builder but is moved to the right of the controlling mv when the form is executed.Is there a way to get this to consistently display the columns in the grid according to the prompt sequence in the screen definition?A little more info: The controlling mv is a product #.  When the product # is entered, the first dependent (that we want shown before the product #) displays @CNT as a line reference.  Then the second and subsequent dependent co

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of Visual Cobol?I have a book on the subject but the author gave the reader a bogus web address.Or do I just have to wait to be told where to go to get my copy of the compiler. I like working with Visual Studio Community. 

I am looking for a way to differentiate a record create (or insert if you will) from a record update within a trigger.  I am not seeing anything that would allow me to do this easily.   My use case is to send out an event on a record create and a different event on a record update.  I want this to happen only after a successful write.I can see on a pre-write how I could see if the record exists already or not, but then if the write should fail, I would have sent an event for the create or the update that is out of sync with the state of my database.  I would like to avoid having 2 events sent on a create (one pre-write detecting a create and one post-write for an update).It would seem to be an important piece of metadata that should be available to the trigger as to whether or not this record had to (or will) be created by the write.Has anyone else already come up with an elegant solution or can point out the obvious thing I am missing?

Hi freaksI was forced to upgrade ourWindows-Server and SQL-Server to Version “2025”No problem but now, when I connect (from our application) the first time to the database it takes 8 secondssql/print "SELECT top 1 1 FROM aTable", "DEF"Profiling on MS-SQL give me no hint, as the duration of all action are a few microseconds.Using procmon results in this picture UnifAce connects and deconnect several time. I have PROD1.PROCLIB listed in the System Procedure Library in JES configuration.  But unless I include the JCLLIB statement in my JCL it can’t find the procedure.

We are loading a third party web page to an HTML widget in a DSP which is in turn loaded into an HTML widget from our C.S. Application. The 3rd party web page is displaying the dates etc in American format. and the navigator.language when queried in the inspector is “en-US”. The user/machine I am running the client application on is set to language “en-GB” when I run chrome and use the inspector. It is important that I can set the accepted languages and preferred language for my application as people will be confused by the date formats. How do you control these settings in the HTML widget/cefrender? NOTE, I am currently jumping through hoops to set the locale in the DSP code, but this is a 3rd party software… Regards, Iain

It seems like the emulator is losing its "focus" mid-script, which causes the whole automation string to just hang indefinitely until I manually refresh the session.I’ve spent the morning looking into whether this is a resource allocation issue on the host side or if I just haven't configured the background processes correctly. Good morning, I have been working in COBOL for over 20 years and I have always believed that when a main program (PA) calls a second program (PB) using `CALL PB USING field1 field2 field3` and the procedure in PB is `PROCEDURE USING field1 field2 field3`, the parameters that are put in the `using` procedure of a program (PB) should be defined in the `linkage` section, but I see in the documentation this“ Data-name-1 must be defined as a level 01 or a level 77 entry in the Linkage Section , File Section or Working-Storage Section”This raises a lot of questions for me.Has this always been the case? If the variables in PB are defined in the working storage section, what relationship do the variables in PA have with those in PB? How does assigning values ​​to variables in PB affect the variables defined in PA? Could the call be made from PA without passing those parameters?

Is it possible to migrate JAVA code that use JCICS in CICS Liberty server on zOS to run on Rocket Enterprise server on Linux ?  Is there any guide for such migration ?

I’m not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question. What are employers looking for when  it comes to COBOL. Is proficiency in COBOL the only requisite they want, or are they looking for other things as well? At the age of 70, and with issues like memory retention and learning new things, learning COBOL is one thing. Learning more than just a programming language may be more than I can muster.

HiI have installed patch line Uniface 10.4.03.036 today. The Ide startpage tries to load “Loading community topics”, but it’s just spinning.If you restart the Ide, you may be lucky and it loads, but usually just spinning.It doesn’t lock the ide but..I think I have seen something about this in the forum, but I can’t find it.Regards RogerWStartpage
