Hi FreaksWe have an archive system (not written with Uniface) consisting of a server and clients. The server and clients communicate via HTTPS. The server also allows a third-party system (in this case, a Uniface application) to communicate with it via HTTPS/REST.That works so far.Now I have some very large files that I want to download from the server. When I use the archive client, a PDF file over 400 MB in size appears in seconds.But when I try to download the file in Uniface, it takes over twenty minutes!What is slowing Uniface down so much here? (It can’t be the server, the HTTP interface, or the network.)Does anyone have any idea which parameters I need to pass to DUMP_FILE_CONTENTS so that it also downloads in seconds here?TIAIngo

To show records of a vision file we use paged-grids and the majority of our users are fine with that.There is one customer (and unfortunately our most important one) who wants a “standard scrollbar”.The answer that this is only doable when we know how many records are 100% does not convince him and he does not let it go.So we thought of a lazy-loading scenario.We load and show the first 100 records and when he drags the grid thumb all the way down to the end of the grid we try to load more records.The problem is that the grid does not give an event when reaching the last record.Does anyone have an idea how to solve this ?Or do you have a totally different approach ?

After a few "small" tests, I figured out that this loop isn't necessary at all; even with "chunked" mode, a single call to SEND(GET) and DUMP_FILE_CONTENTS is sufficient.In what scenario is the example from the UnifAce documentation supposed to apply?

I’ve been using VC11 for Eclipse (Windows) for a couple of months now, and this seemly random highlighting of this is really getting on my nerves.  The image below shows a “simple” example.  It is often much worse.Here I just put my cursor on the top left and then cursored down some lines.  When my cursor reached line 14 the entire line, plus the first 3 characters of line 15, were suddenly highlighted for seemingly no reason.  Cursoring down again it removed highlight from 14 and highlights 15.  Other examples seem to be even more random.  Is this a known issue or what?  Anything I can do?  The only way to unhighlight is to open the Find box (Cntl-F) and then hit escape. 

March Hare Software have just released an updated UD6 - Uniface Version Control for Uniface 10.4.03, and all previous releases of Uniface back to and including Uniface 7.UD6 is a “database driver” to store your Uniface source code in text files, so you can use any “normal” devops processes around version control, build management, continuous integration, testing, etc. etc.A quick video of how to use GitHub and Uniface 10 with UD6 is available here:  With the help of my team here, a few years ago we created an open source Eclipse development environment for Uniface.  But I think that the Eclipse development environment has been superseded by VS Code.  I’m toying with the idea of making a VS Code environment for Uniface.  Along with Uniface source code in text files with UD6, it would simplify the use of Claude or other generative AI programming with Uniface.  I’m curious as to feedback from the community if this is something you would find useful?I’ve been the lead developer of UD6 for

HiNow I’m on thin ice.I have a Uniface9 service (self-contained) that has changed an entity's read trigger, i.e. what is in the data model's read trigger is overwritten in the form.When exporting and importing to Uniface 10.04.3_038, that what is in the entity's read trigger is still used. Hi, In Window Client, Zena has option to send the Process Item Output to notepad (see attachment).  Does Web Client have the same option?  If it has, can you help me to find it?   Another note...from Window Client we can get to Zena User's Guide (see attachment); however, in Web Client we could not.  Is it possible that you can give us that option?  Thanks.

After we upgraded to Zena AEO version 4.5.1.28, we can’t create new view.  When we save the new view, the scheduler keeps spinning (see attached).  Please help.  Thanks.

Hi , we are working with Microfocus Visual COBOL for Eclipse on Linux/UNIX V8.0 and we do a lot of call SYSTEM in a lot of programs .We take the return-code of de call SYSTEM and we have detected that when we run in a SO LINUX if the execution is with newrun the return-code is 0 , but mis the execution is from a transational monitor writted in C the return-code is alwais 1 The same programs executed in AIX returns 0  

We are using DLL's with COM interoperability in our Uniface application. Up to today we use C# / .NET Framework 4.8, but want to switch over to C# / .NET Core to be more in line with all other written applications written in C#. I managed to create a (relative) simple DLL with .NET Core, publish it and create a Type Library. I can import that TLB file into Uniface 10 and compile the signature. But when instantiating this component I get an error stating “Unable to get COM type information for COM class”. What could be wrong?

i will have to upgrade a universe server and a unidata server in the coming year. i thought why are we running both. when i upgrade the unidata server should i convert it to universe. is it more work than doing the upgrade itself. if so how much more work.

Well, don’t know how it happened but somehow the ODBC configuration for one of customer accounts has been damaged and they want to restore it to what it was yesterday.  What files need to be restored to get this repaired?

It used to be the VSG, then the MDM, and I can’t find the MDM anywhere these days. What do y’all use for mapping Unidata tables to ODBC?

On out development server, we have several installs of uniface for different uses (devel, testing, ‘live’ etc.) Some of these I can tell apart in the “Programs and Features” because they are different versions or patches. Others I cannot. Having just uninstalled the wrong version in an attempt to fix another problem, the question is. Is there a trick to naming the installations inthe Programs and features MMC so we can tell them apart. The info gives us version and install date, but not install path, and I can’t see any sensible way to differentiate them. Iain

Currently in our version control system, we have exports of each component we generate in Uniface, which are then imported during check out and then exported during check in.  In our migration from 9.7 to 10.4, one of the things I would like to do is do a full export of everything from my 10.4 repository to put back into version control.Individual components are pretty easy, as we can name the component we want to export and pass that to $ude, since we know the name of the component from our version control system.  What I would like to be able to do is from within Uniface, list all of the components programmatically and then for each individual component, export each component to its own XML file for check in.  Is there a way to list all components or even all objects in the repository programmatically? 

Is it possible to have a complete D3 integration in Rocket MVBasic for Vscode ?Actually, there’s only code integration for jbase and universe…and documentation is slighly different...

We are a rather large implementation of Universe 11.3.1 (originally created in the mid-80s as a PI install and migrated to PI Open to Universe over the years).   We have 3 application developers but do not have a traditional UV admin (we don’t modify the uvconfig parameters at all).  The system just seems to run itself.  I have read through Tech Specs & Release Notes but have not found alot of detail on how to or what to look out for.Does anyone have experience in going from 11 to 14?  Any advice or detailed check list?Thank you!

Visual COBOL for Visual Studio 2022 11.0.0 failing install on windows server 2022. Visual studio community edition is installed, version 18.4.3 and “Workload for C++ Desktop Applications “ is installed.
