Does anyone have an accurate handle on how and when AUTOLOGOUT triggers?   The manual says….Use AUTOLOGOUT to enable or disable automatic logout. With AUTOLOGOUT enabled, UniVerse logs you out automatically if you have not pressed a key within a specified time.But I don’t believe that is accurate.   We’ve had some confusing results in testing.   A process on a loop with periodic TIMEDATE() displays (output only) does not trigger.  Similarly a loop process with no screen output but just a SLEEP X also does not trigger even in between loops before it goes back to sleep.So, we are trying to understand the actual nuts and bolts of how/when it triggers.   Thanks for any help.Steve DouglasVP Systems AdminMBMS, LLC

i will have to upgrade a universe server and a unidata server in the coming year. i thought why are we running both. when i upgrade the unidata server should i convert it to universe. is it more work than doing the upgrade itself. if so how much more work.

I’m told that universe support says: . ... they receive very few support cases related to NLS…There are a couple of possible reasons for this, one being that no-one actually uses it. We have code that supports some high-range ascii characters that would otherwise cause problems with the item storage but are looking to test a proper unicode solution. I really don’t want to be the first down this path ;-) Mike

Hi everyone, Does anyone know how to make the "Universe Telnet Service" that runs on our IBS Application server, to only use 128bitblock Ciphers, and disable the other lower 64bit block ciphers? The service listens on port 992. The problem is that our Qualys VUN scanning tool is picking up that port 992 is a security risk againstBirthday attacks against TLS ciphers with 64bit block size vulnerability (Sweet32) and goes on to say"Disable and stop using DES, 3DES, IDEA or RC2 ciphers.  We believe that the "Universe Telnet Service" uses OpenSSL that offers out these lower level ciphers, but we have no idea how to to best address this sothat the only ciphers used are 128-bit or higher ciphers. We are waiting on our third party support to get back to us as they have opened a ticket today. Current version of OpenSSL is OpenSSL 1.0.2m-fips  2 Nov 2017, though "Programs and Features" is saying OpenSSL 1.1.1k (64-bit) was installed on March 2021. Universe is 12.1.1 is installed. I have a program that creates a Wintegrate pop-up window. Within this window, among other things, I place a picture in a specific location. Currently, the x/y coordinates used to place the picture are based solely on the window it’s self.Problem: the picture seems to move around if I resize and/or move the window. Or worse, if I move the program to a different computer.The solution that I am looking for, is a way to determine exactly what are the x/y coordinates of the upper/left corner of the window as compared to the full monitor screen. This would allow me to calculate exactly where I want to place the picture, within the window, no matter the size or location of said window on the monitor.

Hi everyone, I’m attempting to install the UniVerse Personal Edition version 14.1.1 on MacOS Tahoe 26.1 on an M1 Macbook. I’m following Rocket’s official PDF (see attachment) on how to do this via a Docker container and using the supporting files from their Github: RocketSoftware/multivalue-containers Because I’m on Apple Silicon, I adjusted the Dockerfile as follows:Replaced the original FROM to force AMD64 emulation since I’m on ARM:FROM --platform=linux/amd64 rockylinux/rockylinux:latestI also added this to fix a permission error that occurs.RUN chmod +x /usr/local/bin/*uv.sh Now, I consistently hit a segmentation fault in the installer during the init_uvsm step. Does anyone on the forum, have any information concerning Rocket U2 Application Developer Certification for new developers. This would include coursework, exams, etc. I have not been able to find anything on Rocket’s site concerning that topic.   Thank you in advance.

Is there a log of phantom processes and pids anywhere?I have a job scheduler that runs as a phantom and executes jobs from a table at certain times.I’m having an issue in my scheduler where it appears to run the same task multiple timeson a random basis (ie some days it is just fine, other days  I will see that same job runs multiple times instead of once).   I haven’t been able to figure it out and I was hoping that there was a log somewhere that I could look atthat showed what processes have been started as phantoms.On Universe 11.3

Hi!I’ve started to tinker with the Universe database of my company using uopy that allows me to run basic commands from a remote server.Is there a book or a formation to learn this basic?Asking AI I’ve been able to list the data of a file, but I would like to filter it by date. What is the formula?Thanks!

Trying to build and index and getting this error:04 BUILD-INDEX LOTIndex name:  SER#Locking 'LOT' file for exclusive use.Index file "INDEX.004" for key "SER#" is locked.  Aborting.File 'LOT' Unlocked. How can I unlock that index so  I can build it?

Creating a purge program.  First make a past on a stat file that has cust# and date to select appropriate records to purge into a “to purge” array (INSERT “AR”).Then, read through main file, using a locate on the array to determine if it was one selected.  If so, delete it.Issue is that the main file are from 1-5 records whose IDs begin with the cust#.  This file does not have a date to be used for purging.  The main file has almost 5M records.  The “to purge” array has 50k-150k cust#s in it.  The first pass to create the array from the stat file only takes 30 seconds even with 3M+ records.  However, reading through the main file, using a LOCATE (“AR”) is really slow.I would think that locating in the array would be faster than doing one pass on the main file and doing 4M+ reads on the stat file.   So, I was wondering if anyone had a better idea that would speed up the process.Universe v11.3.1.6022 running on AIX 7.2

Hello, it is me again fighting UOPY.  I need to push a big file, and after multiple testing, I found that I could not push a file bigger than 128K. The process hangs there forever. Is this a Unidata limitation or a UOPY limitation? Is there a way to change this limit? Hello! I’m relatively new to UniVerse and Multi-valued databases, so my experience with BASIC is limited.I was writing a program with subroutine calls that I wanted to abstract via ‘@<var>’. This program had a “create output file data line” subroutine and a “finalize output file” subroutine. When I wrote these local subroutines (explicitly defined, not subroutine labels), I encountered an error where, when calling with ‘@’, only the first locally-defined subroutine would be found; the other subroutine would cause a runtime error, unable to be located. I am receiving JSON from a third party and it contains a null value like below.  I call UDOGETPROPERTY for line_item_id and when I try to reference the return value I get Improper data type and my process terminates. How do I detect for the null value in the return value?
