NOTE - This 2022 demo for 10.1.x RDOp in no way reflects the current installation improvements available in v10.3+ versions of RDOp|t. Please see current documentation for your installed version of RDOp|t for installation instructions.

I've gotten a few questions internally regarding the 'OFFLINE' installation options for the Rocket DevOps Portal (RDO or RDOp) application on IBM i.
The use of open source applications on IBM i is still new to many of us.
Here is a quick demo of the steps outlined in the guide for retrieving, uploading and then installing the open systems packages required for the IBM i version of the RDO Portal without requiring IBM i access to the internet (see the guide for your version for specific URLs and recommended steps).
In this quick video demo, you'll see:

  • Browse the IBM i Open Source package download site.
  • Download required files as noted in the Installation Guide to your workstation
  • Use WinSCP to transfer the files to the IBM i Integrated Files System (IFS)
  • Confirm the upload location path and contents in the IFS (WRKLNK or via SSH with PuTTY)
  • Start the RDO installer (LODRUN)
  • Select the 'OFFLINE' installation option and specify the IFS path to the packages

Please let us know if you have any questions on the demo or the guide steps.
We look forward to your feedback on the Rocket DevOps Portal.
Tell us what you'd like to see next!
Best,

Hello Dale,

Thank you so much for your answer and very good details.

I saw the video and I think I have a another version because when I hit function F9  i do not see anything about (Java version) or (Run setup programs parameters ) .  If I need to see the Online or Offline options I must change "Run setup programs"  with the value *NO + ENTER

(*) My image after lodrun + F9

Miguel,
The Offline flow and option for the IFS folder containing the packages (the focus of the demo) is valid for any v10.1.x release of RDO.
Thank you for calling that Java option out.  I was testing the v10.1.1 installer for this 'Offline' package prep and installation example.  You'll see those new Java options when the new version is released next week.
Best,
d
