Weird VS Code plug-in behavior

I’m playing around with the vs code plug-in and have noticed some VERY odd behaviors.

I’m using version 11.1.0 of the plug-in and version 10.4 of RDOi.

  • When I right click on an item in the subset filter and select Create, it submits the compile job but I get a “davidg8 check job or spooled file failed. (Internal error).” message.  A “Error: (SSH) Channel open failure: open failed” message shows up in the output tab of the console.
  • After that message shows up, the PRTFCREATE spool file is displayed but flickers.  If I close the terminal window, the terminal window reappears with the same spool file.  This happens for a while until it finally stops.  I tried to upload a screen capture, but the forum software won’t let me.

Hi David,

Sorry I didn’t see this earlier.  My access/visibility appears to have changed since we relaunched the Forum.

The compatibility for the VSC RDOi functionality appears to be an issue here.  The latest RDOi VSC includes some features/functionality for job monitoring that would not be supported in v10.5 or earlier versions of the RDOi product.

Compat info is here in the RDOx VSC extension User Guide for v11.1.  We need RDOi|p v11.1 for the new extension.

I’ll see what can be done about Forum uploads for screenshots.

Best,

Dale

@Dale Asher , if the extension is going to be provided via the marketplace, it really needs to be able to work with multiple versions.

Most people will install the latest version of the extension on the assumption it will work with the version of RDOi they are using.

Hi David,

Thx for the additional comments.

Checking with lab on available vsix options from marketplace for multiple versions and compat info.

AFAIK, if customer has older RDOx version, they need to disable auto update option and then download our vsix file for older version from the Customer Portal to install.

Best,

Dale
