Good Afternoon Group,

I have an issue with SB/XA.   It is telling me that it "Couldn't create pbclass object FK2.  Object name already in use.  405, SBWIN_99_6*FK2".    (Actually image is attached, below.)

I have 2 buttons in my GUI screen.   I know that the F2 is normally "Save" and F4 is normally "Delete".   In my case, I'm using the F2 key as "Generate" and the F4 key as "Exit".    I have used this methodology in the old SB+, but we are going start using SB/XA 5.5.4.  This "issue" is from SB/XA.

Can anyone offer any advice or guidance on how to get rid of this?   I have deleted the button and re-inserted it, but to no avail.   The interesting part, the F4 is just fine.

Thank you for your time and consideration.   I will be looking forward to any and all feedback.

Hi Grant,

I have created a Test-Screen an changed the Texts for Button F2 and F4 to Generate and Exit and also the  Process Call G:U and G:DE to some different.

On my side anything works fine (except that I have no possibility to save :-)

What I think could be worth a Test:

  • Save the Screen in Ascii and do a Execute now
  • Regen.gui of the Screen

-> Maybe it could be better to delete the button before this procedure.

The field positions will likely shift, but this may potentially solve the problem.

Also you can try to Screen edit the .GUI or .XUI entry after deleting the button to see if there is still an FK2 entry left or delete them at all to let them be recreated...

Greetings

Thomas

Hi Thomas!!

Thank you for your response.   I found the problem and to be honest, I was looking right at it and it didn't click in my molecular-size brain!!

What happened was I created a button that I was trying to link to F2.   Well, I completely forgot that when you create a new screen, the F2 & F4 are already in the properties.  By creating a new button, I was creating a conflict.     So, I eliminated the button that I created and reassigned F2 and it fixed the problem.

So, I appreciate your response.  It set off a "switch" in my brain.

Thank you for your time and feedback!!
