Good day everyone,
I was wondering if there were any tweaks that I could enter into the AcuServer config file to improve performance?

We're running AcuServer for a customer who's having error problems with the standard 32-Bit runtime and we decided to go down the path of AcuServer to see if it eliminates the errors without worrying about SMB and opportunistic Locking. The problem with AcuServer is that it runs much slower than the runtime.
AcuServer is running on Windows 2012 Server where the data files reside. The shortcuts are running on Citrix clients.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Rafael..

We were told by a client with around 50 users running a single-port version of AcuServer that increasing V-BUFFERS helped performance noticeably. We also enable V-BUFFER-DATA. We also only route data files thru AcuServer as we have had lots of problems routing programs thru more recent versions of AcuServer so just gave up on that, but not sure if that will affect performance or not. We do tend to find AcuServer offers both better performance and better reliability than mapped drives. It still crashes and/or hangs up from time-to-time and it has to be restarted or killed in Task Manager and started back up, which in turn takes everyone down so that is frustrating for clients, but overall it still seems to have less problems than mapped drives. We have played around with other settings at this 50 user client in particular, but that V-BUFFERS was the main one we found that helped with performance according to their feedback, so have used it other places as well. Good Luck!

Our company has also ran up against this issue. with the new server 2016 systems that clients are using we noticed that overall performance using acuserver slowed compared to acuserver on the server 2008/2012 systems. Same client just a new 2016 server. we also tried messing with the V-BUFFERS and noticed that some processes flew while others took a big hit. we tried to find a good value for best overall performance but we never got the different processes to level out. So we took acuserver out of the mix and used UNC pathing instead. UNC on 2016 server greatly improved performance overall for all processes BUT then randomly the client started reporting file corruption errors. So we put them back on acuserver in order to save the integrity of our files.
Then another of our clients got a 2016 server and we set them on acuserver as well for the files but the overall performance on their system was great almost as fast as the UNC pathing when using a test program I wrote.
