Hi freaksI was forced to upgrade ourWindows-Server and SQL-Server to Version “2025”No problem but now, when I connect (from our application) the first time to the database it takes 8 secondssql/print "SELECT top 1 1 FROM aTable", "DEF"Profiling on MS-SQL give me no hint, as the duration of all action are a few microseconds.Using procmon results in this picture UnifAce connects and deconnect several time. Every reconnect last 0.5 seconds so in total we are near the eight seconds (measured by counting aloud)So what’s going on here?As I said, it's really just the simple SQL/print statement, nothing else.Oh yes, when I start the IDF, I got thisWhat happens here for about two seconds?Thanks for any hintIngo

Hi Unifacers,I would like to understand how to deal with VARIANT datatype in a COM interface with Uniface.VARIANT datatype as far as I’ve understood from Microsoft documentation is accepting either strings or numeric or any other datatypes and based on the datatype received it is reacting accordingly.Giving an easy understandable example (but the problem is generic):an Excel workbook could be composed from one or more worksheet; when more worksheets are available the program should select the one it wants to work into.After loading the Excel type library in Uniface and opening the workbook the operation to be called to move to a specific worksheet is:    sheets->get_item(handle out, variant in)- First param is an output parameter and it is the handle/pointer to the requested sheet- Second param is a VARIANT and it could be either a number or a string; when number it means the ordinal number identifying the requested worksheet or when string it means the name assigned to the workshee

We are loading a third party web page to an HTML widget in a DSP which is in turn loaded into an HTML widget from our C.S. Application. The 3rd party web page is displaying the dates etc in American format. and the navigator.language when queried in the inspector is “en-US”. The user/machine I am running the client application on is set to language “en-GB” when I run chrome and use the inspector. It is important that I can set the accepted languages and preferred language for my application as people will be confused by the date formats. How do you control these settings in the HTML widget/cefrender? NOTE, I am currently jumping through hoops to set the locale in the DSP code, but this is a 3rd party software… Regards, Iain

HiI have installed patch line Uniface 10.4.03.036 today. The Ide startpage tries to load “Loading community topics”, but it’s just spinning.If you restart the Ide, you may be lucky and it loads, but usually just spinning.It doesn’t lock the ide but..I think I have seen something about this in the forum, but I can’t find it.Regards RogerWStartpage 

We do all our exports to CSV by lfieldump and this works for yearsNow, however, a customer came up with the idea of using a DOS environment variable to determine the directory instead of fixed directories.So instead of "Q:\outpute\export1.csv,"it should now be "%app_export%\export1.csv"(where app_export is defined differently on each client).Unfortunately, Uniface cannot handle this; the file system converts it to "?app_export?\export1.csv," and the file system complains.Is there a simple solution for this, i.e., any letter combinations that can be used at the file system level to resolve "%%app_export%"?Of course, I can use a few tricks to ask Windows/DOS what the resolution is before each fieldump, and then replace that part. But I'm reluctant to check all our programs for this and make changes :-)A customer

So it all appears good. However, if I inspect the cef process (ENABLEDEVTOOLS=true), it builds up uncaught exceptions as per below, every time the refresh is fired. NOTE the refresh works, it just stacks an error in the dev tools.  VM124:1 Uncaught TypeError: uniface.getInstance(...).activate(...) is not a function at <anonymous>:1:58

Uniface and EDIFACTAuthor: i.sharp@pcisystems.co.uk (Iain Sharp) Has anyone used the EDIFACT standards to create/consume an EDI solution?  I'd like to determine if I need a third party app to convert to something useful, or if I can write something which will work directly in Uniface (or as a COM/DLL plugin).  If anyone has done similar, could you briefly say how difficult a task it was?  Regards,  Iain

Just for your information*)In UF 9, I had stored a list with GOLD- as a constant. That worked well.In UF 10, constants are created textually in DEFPARAM, and the semicolon acts as a comment character.The nice list is ruined :-(*) Even if Uniface were to correct this, it would take forever for it to be delivered in a version.“Unfortunately”, I need it right now. As a workaround, I used a pipe symbol instead of GOLD-;.And, of course, I have to convert | back to GOLD-; wherever it is used.

Uniface optimizes $putmess_logfile and $transcript_logfile for multi‑core CPUs using multi‑threaded logging, resulting in improved application responsiveness and overall performance.   The label text defined on the modeled field is now exposed as a property for widgets created with the UX Interface, and the standard Uniface UX widgets have been updated to display it. This enhancement improves inheritance behavior and streamlines modernization efforts. The widget’s _label‑text_ property can be used to override the field's label at runtime. Classic DSP widgets will continue to work as before, using a dedicated Label object. If anyone finds themselves in the same situation as I was after applying patch 26 to 10.4.03 and the Ctrl+F no longer brings up the find box in the proc editor, then just add this to your usys.ini and it will get you going again. My guess is that when they added the feature “Go to line number in code” they broke whatever the defaults that were baked into the proc editor because the search and the search and replace worked just fine without having to be defined in the usys.ini file(s). I opened a support ticket on this and eventually solved it myself. Hopefully, they address it or at a minimum, add it automatically to the usys.ini in future patches as they are applied.[userkeys]code.search=Ctrl+Fcode.searchandreplace=Ctrl+Hcode.gotoline=Ctrl+G

We have a web page built in against an HTML widget in our CS. Clicking a button on the web page uses a JS trigger to start loading a CS form and populating it with data. Whilst this is happening (can be up to 10 seconds before the entire form is loaded/shown) the web page is active and there is no indication at the client end that anything is happening. I’d like to turn on the ‘Processsing’ function, as per the refresh/loading of the page in the first place, from JS calls to the HTML widget before the activate of the triggered form, and off again after the form is loaded. (So the user doesn’t think nothing is happening and click the button several times (causing multiple instances of the form to fire up). Is this possible? Putting the DSP into ‘locked/processing’ state without the round trip to the server refresh… Iain

I have some data held in a field which I am painting on a DSP. Currently the field is set to statictext, but if I make the surrounding structure (div etc) have a fixed width, the field contents overflow it. I want to set them to wrap inside the width. However, the STATICTEXT field type translates to SPAN, and SPAN does not follow width or word-wrap, what DSP field type can I use doe display only text which follows the wordwrap stuff. I tried making the field ‘ATTRIBUTESONLY’ but then the text is not displayed (the ‘static text’ from the HTS is shown instead...) Regards, Iain 

I’ve recently been made aware of an issue with logical printers in Uniface 10.4 on Windows 11 workstations. If you have 2 or more logical printers defined, all logical printers in the list will appear to be mapped to the first physical printer in the list. If you click on Change, the printer definition appears wrong, but if you click on the chevron to see what physical printer is mapped, it will be correct -- HOWEVER, any specific settings that were stored originally when setting up the printer will NOT be correct.Support has suggested to manage this directly through proc code. Has anyone run into this issue and if so, what was the solution or workaround?TIA
