I had a user that was looking for field on Stage panels to see one that were marked as NCAL on user options.
They want this so they can tell order of staging modules subs/mains and/or identifying potential effect of source change on package.
I found i was able to add column for userop04, but i could not get a sort to work, since it seems sort has to be set up by ZMF for field i want to use.
Interestingly when i am in Stage for Editing i see my field and related data, but if i enter from query my new field and data all show as empty and i am not sure why.
So can we get user options added to stage panels for sorting,

I took a look at this and I do not think this would be possible through customization at the moment. As you have found, I cannot think of any ways in which these panels could display/re-display the package contents sorted by user option fields without changes within the product itself.
I also took a look to see if the user options were available as hidden fields in the table that is displayed by anels CMNSTG01/14/24. Unfortunately they are not, so there is nothing you can currently do on that side, either.

I added field for user option 04 to panel and I seem to be getting value from field for components.

Hi John,
Yes, even if the same panel and table name are used, different functions are likely to populate the fields in a slightly different manner. The user option variables are obviously populated and available in PDSTGLST/CMNSTGnn under stage, but they are unavailable/not populated when the same combination of table and panel is used within the query function.
Regardless of this inconsistency, both functions would need to be enhanced to add sorting capabilities on these fields.

Steve, we noticed that it was not when query was used.
We would still like to give the data to users that requested it for Staging.
I hesitate on implementing if they can not SORT and get all NCAL members sorted together.
I assumed the new IDEA would require changes to product.
What is the scope of changes required.

I apologise for the tardy response.
You are quite correct, the idea being discussed here would indeed require changes to the product. We will not know the full scope of those changes until our R&D team perform their detailed analysis of the request. Realistically that will not occur until the request garners some support on this forum or in the customer community in general.
We will update this Idea if/when that happens and the request is passed to our R&D team.
