This idea has been opened from a ZMF4ECL UI smart editor perspective and we understand the restriction. However, the language and procedure are currently set for like-SRC components using existing component history held in ZMF on the mainframe. We do not hold language and procedure information for like-CPY components. Hence it is impossible to provide this functionality at this time without significant changes on the mainframe side.

We are currently looking into providing users with the opportunity to set a default value for these fields in idea 2749405.

There are no plans to store language/compile procedure for like-CPY components in the base ZMF product at this time. The implications of this on the ZMF4ECL UI are being progressed under in idea 2749405.

It is not a problem for us because we store like-CPY members in libraries according to their language.

We already made a case for this being able to set the defaults using a ZDDOPT member. It could be in LIBTYPE but maybe a new member like DEFAULT would be better - just to insure nothing messes up anything on the server.

If not stored on the server it could also be done in ZMF/Eclipse Preferences and not involve the server at all. Maybe that would be better.

Another solution could be to save a xml-file in the workspace and avoid any changes to the panels. Only change would be to read the LIB and three defaults from that file when showing edit/browse panel for like-CPY members.

I really hope you can provide the last one fast and maybe work up from that. As you know this is a daily annoying problem for our developers.
