WHY are you looking for this info, i.e. what's the business case for it? Why not just use some XML services (any of the SERXMLxC-clients) to go retrieve the info about (eg) ZMF packages from ZMF's controle files (like CMNPMAST, etc)?Maybe that you're looking for some type of data warehouse approach for CMN/ZMF data? In that case, how about periodically (eg during ZMF housekeeping) extracting all relevant data that got updated since the previous extract-run, and then "feed" that extract into some (secured) web content management system? Authorized people could use that info (= consume ZMF data) using their preferred device (PC, mobile, etc) to access that content ...

Now I am trying to code a tool which will extract the details like package install date, package promotion level , components in the pkg.....
So can u please help in providing the information where we can find all these details.. in any file/DB2 table

To extract those details you mentioned, I think you should try to do so using some of the XML services like PACKAGE/GENERAL/SEARCH and/or CMPONENT/HISTORY/LIST (note that there might be other XML services that better fit your needs).Do not (repeat: NOT) consider a direct read of CMN/ZMF's controle files in VSAM format like CMNPMAST, CMNLOG, etc (which is what we used to do before ZMF's XML services became available). Even though you can still use this VSAM-read technique in recent ZMF releases, it becomes tougher to continue to do so with newer ZMF releases (CMNCMPNT in ZMF 7.1.x is a perfect sample of that ...), also because SERENA doesn't publish the layout of these controle files anymore.With the XML services mentioned above it should be possible to create a list of package components that fit your needs (like search criteria, desired output fields, etc), probably a variation of this list of all components in all DFZ packages. After you created such list of packages/components, I bet you will want to use that list as input for some subsequent CMN/ZMF processing. If you're not familiar with the XML services yet, consider some training to get started with XML services.Happy CMN-ing!

Hi, I am a mainframe developer, I am using XML services in my rexx program, when i call SERXMLRC program trough my rexx program, iam getting a return code of RC -2054.
I tried to allocate the SYS3 changemand libraries to STEPLIB and ISPLLIB but its still giving the RC -2054.
Could you please help to resolve this.
But when i tried to exxecute the same SERXMLRC through a batch JCL using IRXJCL, iam getting the results successfully. But i need to execute SERXMLRC online throuh REXX.

Starting from ChangeMan ZMF 611, it is possible to execute the SERXMLRC client in ISPF outside of the CMN TSO/ISPF interface, without the need to have the CMN library allocated to the TSO logon proc STEPLIB. That allocation in the TSO logon proc was a prereq to do so in any ChangeMan ZMF 5.x release (AbitMORE SCM Commander facilitates launching XML services from within a custom REXX without this prereq, even in any ChangeMan ZMF 5.x release).Here is an extract from the ChangeMan ZMF 6.1.1 readme file (Release Notes) about how to get this to work:=== start ===SERXMLRC, the REXX client interface to XML Services, now checks for a SERLOAD DD statement before it executes the standard search order of TASKLIB, STEPLIB, JOBLIB, and so on for load a module.This gives customers an easy way to control the version of ChangeMan ZMF programs that are executed in ISPF environments, where dynamically altering library concatenations is difficult or impossible.If you have added panel exits to ChangeMan ZMF that call XML Services through SERXMLRC, allocate SERLOAD in your ChangeMan ZMF logon CLIST. Add SERLOAD to other CLISTS and REXX execs that run in a user’s TSO session and call SERXMLRC.=== stop ===By allocating to DDName SERLOAD the ZMF DSN containing SERXMLRC, we were able to resolve a similar RC=-2054 (and a corresponding System abend code 806, reason code 00000004 for module SERCLIEN), which appeared in some ZMF 6.1.x version.Please let me know if this resolves your issue also. Thanks a lot for your responce.
As suggested, Please correct me if i am wrong.
I tried by allocating loadlib to the the SERLOAD DD as below .
" ADDRESS ISPEXEC
"LIBDEF SERLOAD DATASET ID(SERXMLRC load library name)"
But still iam facing the same problem, getting RC -2054. I am getting below error messgae:
System abend code 806, reason code 00000004.
Abend in host command SERXMLRC or address environment routine LINKMVS.
RC(-2054)
Could you please provide an example or suggest if i am worng in using the SERLOAD.

I'm assuming you're running ZMF release 611 or anything above (in ZMF 5.x the SERLOAD alloc won't help, cfr. my earlier reply about 5.x).Here is how we typically do the SERLOAD alloc:address "TSO" "alloc f(SERLOAD) da('"dsname"') shr reuse"Variable dsname is assumed to contain the DSN of the library containing SERXMLRC.Regards,Pierre
