I'm involved in a migration from a custom NOMAD-written change control system to ChangeMan and am looking for good resources to learn more prior to engaging the various application managers I'll be working with.
I'm very technical but the hardware I work with is usually smaller and the development libraries are either .NET or Java...in other words, I'm not scared of mainframes but haven't had a lot of exposure.
I'm in project management and without comment on whether or not a newbie should be corralling the moving parts of such an effort, I'm looking to bone up my own knowledge prior to bringing the heavy hitters into a room together.
If anyone has specific experience (or even better, work plans I can tailor) with migrating to ChangeMan highlighting major pain / worry points or things you wished you'd have considered earlier in the process than you did, I'd certainly appreciate it.
My weekend will be sundry whitepapers, so apologies for such a newbie hitting the discussion.
(although a geek / techie...so I ain't skairt)

Hey -- no problem being a newbe -- I am a Principal consultant with Serena -- I have been involved with 100's of implementations / migrations of software to ChangeMan ZMF -- I need to know more specifics about the types of applications you are migrating. Based on your profile -- I see you are with B of A -- They have been a customer for a long time -- so it should be pretty easy to work with the Admin team -- They generally will have a standard you need to follow -- Are you setting up a new instalation or just adding an application to an existing install -- that will help me determine where to start.
I will do what I can to help -- have you looked at any of the training that is available or taken any of the courses. What will your role be in the migration. What isthe type of code involved -- ie JAVA / legacy Cobol -- Lots of quiestions for now but I promise lots of answers to follow -:)

Hello,
I work in SAUDI ARABIAN AIRLINES since four years ago in SSS ( system software support ) ALCS and MVS ,and we bought a SERENA ChangeMan® SSM from tow years but no body use it now and my manager assign a task to me to make a presentation about ( identify and document practical use for SERENA ).
Can you help in my task by providing a presentation or a document or courses hand out?
Thanks,
