Customers sometimes ask us what known problems or hotfixes exist in the specific ChangeMan ZMF release to which they are upgrading? For several valid reasons, we do not provide a ‘bucket’ or ‘collection’ of all existing hotfixes for any given release. All of our hotfixes are designed and developed to be installed as unique and targeted solutions to specific problems.
However, after a recent review of the existing hotfixes in the ZMF 8.3 release the following is a current list of those that we recommend customers install before upgrading their live systems to run this version of the product:
1. ZMF8.3.0.002/OCTCR46A280001 Potential 'deadly embrace' converting to Db2 Core functionality in ZMF 8.3
2. ZMF8.3.0.011/OCTCR46A290001 Backout of package in 'XIN' status returns error message 'CMN1275A'
3. Sernet8.3.004/OCTCR46A299001 S0C6-06 abend executing SERCOPY with the BSAM and REALLOC parameters
Also, customers that use CMNEX023 to create and store user-defined variables in the ISPF shared pool for processing during file tailoring should install the following:
4. ZMF8.3.004/OCTCR46A282001 Promotion file tailoring task (CMNADSP) fails with S0C1 in CMNEX023+00BE
Notes:
a. All of the issues listed above, and their associated hotfixes, apply to the ZMF 8.3 release ONLY. These hotfixes must not be requested or applied to anything other than ZMF 8.3 subsystems.
b. Other known issues and further hotfixes do exist for the ZMF 8.3 release. However, those listed above are the ones assessed at time of publication of this Support Tip (i.e. 14th June 2023) as being particularly pervasive or troublesome if they were to be missed during upgrade testing.
c. Further Support Tips may be published in future should additional problems/fixes in the ZMF 8.3 release be assessed as being equally potentially problematic.
d. To request any of the hotfixes listed above please open a new case, one per hotfix, asking that the hotfix be supplied.
e. Similarly, should you hit any other issues during your ZMF 8.3 testing or upgrade then, again, please open a new case and we will be happy to assist.
