ChangeMan ZMF version 8+ does not log a message to the system log when the started task cannot create the complete TCPIP member (#SERx).Ā  This failure prevents the Users from logging on.Ā

The message in the SERPRINT: SER8615I CMN TCPIP information not detected - cannot be saved

ThisĀ error message needs to putĀ into the system log, so automation can capture the error and restart the started task to correct the problem.Ā Ā  Serena does not feel that Users being unable to access ChangeMan is a problem, but we at AT&T do.Ā

Thank you for the submission of this Idea Alan. Trust me, Serena believes failure to access ZMF is indeed a problem. This results in unwelcome phone calls, often in the middle of the night for those folks supporting ZMF. Reviewing your comments here, and the originating support case, I believe we need to find the root cause of the initial failure to create the #SERx member, which results in users unable to connect to ZMF via TCP/IP. Your request to log SER8615I to the system log for action by auto ops certainly has merit imo. In parallel with this Idea you submitted, I would like your help gathering additional diagnostics to identify root cause. On the next occurrence, please open a case (or reopen the original) so we can continue investigating with you.
