We are running Enterprise Developer 10.0 that accesses a SQL server database from CICS via an ODBC XA Resource.  We are experiencing long standing schema modification locks (LCK_M SCH_M) in SQL Server coming from the Rocket server through MSDTC.  Currently the only way we know to resolve is to stop/start MSDTC on the database server.  Is there any documentation on configuration options (either the Rocket or SQL servers) that we can review to help resolve these locks?

Hi Bruce,

How have you observed that the locks come from  the Rocket Server? E.g. via a sql server trace?

Do the parameters listed on this page help, e.g. setting a timeout:
https://docs.rocketsoftware.com/bundle/enterprisedevelopervs2022_ug_100/page/age1743376631304.html

If not then I recommend you to raise a support case to seek further assistance as this may require further investigation.

Regards,
Kim

There is this generic MS doc on resolving blocks and locks.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/sql/database-engine/performance/understand-resolve-blocking

There is no doc on Rocket side though.

Has any lock analysis done to see what statement is holding the lock?
