Hi Team,
We have several customers in APAC who are actively paying yearly maintenance renewals, however, they are in unsupported versions (as low as version 3). We have now at least 2 customers (both in version 3) who are planning to upgrade to the latest version and asking how licensing will work during the upgrade process/project, which, depending on the complexity of the application may take 3 to 9 months. Our sales and presales team are divided on how to approach this. Sales, of course wants some license revenue out of this. To resolve, we found this link Micro Focus Business Support Agreement to guide us on the proper resolution. Based from this, we found the below statements:

Highlighted in yellow, there is a clause that the current version that customer is using should not extend beyond the 'End of Support' period of that version. In this case the current version under support is only v7 till v10, so v3 is already end of support even if they are paying maintenance for the entitlement.
This, I think, is subject to interpretation, so I checked with APAC AMC renewals team, and they confirmed that customer is entitled to temp/demo licenses at no extra cost for their upgrades so long customer is on active maintenance.
But to make sure, I wanted to post this here so we are sure we are following the global ruling on this. Also, to confirm how should the license be procured in this case? We used to do ZDO to generate temp licenses back in OT/MF days. Is this process still valid?
Thank you very much!
