I'm getting started with an evaluation version of Relativity and I try to create a new catalog in Designer. I choose File -> Create New Data Source. I select Micro Focus Relativity Data Manager. Then I click the Create Catalog button and select a file name.
I'm getting "ASLM: Semaphore failure." error. I've executed ASLMPCLOCATE as instructed but no change. Running Process Monitor shows that it's looking for IDELINK.DLL but I can't find it on my drive.

Anybody knows what I'm missing?
Thank you!
Which Micro Focus COBOL product do you have installed on this computer Net Express, Server 5.1, Visual COBOL, COBOL Server??
Apptrack on Windows is for licensing the Server 5.1 (Application Server) production product. Using Relativity requires one of these products to be installed and licensed as it needs to access the file handler and the run-time system.
I believe that IDELINK.DLL is only found in the Mainframe Express product which is very old. It could be that Relativity is finding an older version of the CBLRTSS.DLL file, which is the COBOL run-time system. In your procmon trace look for occurrences of CBLRTSS to see where it is being located...

I have Relativity Server and Relativity Designer. They're both in version 2.3 32 bits and I have evaluation licenses for both.
What I just realized, and I'm sorry for that, is that I copied thre Bin directory from a Net Express installation and forgot about that.
I removed everything and reinstalled, but I'm back to the problem I had before I copied the Net Express libraries: I have "Error loading external File Manager DLL". With ProcMon, I see that CreateDataSource.Exe is looking for MFFH.DLL. I was told Designer would solve that problem, but obviously, it doesn't.

Thanks Chris,
Reading again a few minutes, I realized that's what I missed earlier. I'm gonna check with our contact at Micro Focus to get my hands on a Net Express license.
Thanks again and sorry for the confusion.

Just another questipn: do I need one of those if I only deploy the client/server, without Designer or DBA?

The Relativity Data Manager and the Relativity Data Server require a licensed copy of one of the listed products to be installed, so that the file handler can be accessed.
The Data Client does not have this requirement, as, the file access occurs only on the machine where the Data Server resides.
