Currently we have code that runs in a 64-bit  , Net express 5.1 , and windows 2008 R2 environment  ,  we are looking to upgrade to windows 10 or windows 12  and run the code there using NETX51 , but have sporadic issues running the programs under a WINDOWS 10 environment , so for the time being we have compiled the programs in windows 2008 , and run the executable on WINDOWS 10 , by setting the compatibility mode to windows 8, But going forward windows 8 is not going to be supported , so  how do we  do this COBOL CODE  migration developed under MF 64-bit  NETX51 to Windows 10 , or 12  without going to VISUAL COBOL.

Is there any special lines of code that can be added to the source COBOL programs to make it run under WINDOWS 10 .

Appreciate any help.

Hi Emmasu,

You're probably aware that we built the Net Express product using Microsoft build tools and the associated c-runtime environment which dates back to around 1997 - although probably a combination of things, some of the issues you are seeing are likely to be a result of this level of tooling.

If you're having challenges moving to Visual COBOL, please feel free to get in touch with me directly to discuss these further.
