Problem
When installing RM products it will ask for a license. If the installation process is unable to apply the license to the product it will normally abort the installation process. For some products like Info Express, then installation will complete. How can the product be used once the installation has completed?
Resolution
In most cases the installation will abort and the product will need to be uninstalled and the re-installed.
In some cases, the installation will complete, but the product cannot be used because there is not a valid license present. In these cases, the license can be applied once the installation has completed so that the product can be used.
This is how to complete the installation.
- Copy the license file(s) to the SupportTools directory that is underneath the main installation directory. E.g. for a standard Unix install of Info Express this is /usr/rminfox/SupportTools. For a standard Windows install of Info Express this is C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Liant\\RMInfoExpressv12\\SupportTools.
- Ensure that only the license files that are to be installed are present in the SupportTools directory and remove any license files that are not going to be applied from the directory.
- Run the following command from the command prompt:
- Licverifyall *.lic
- This will then apply the license file to license.vlt if it exists. If it cannot be found, then a new license.vlt can be created which is needed if the license was not applied during the installation process.
- When prompted for the location to create the license.vlt, enter:
".." (i.e. the parent directory)
The license will be applied and the license.vlt will be created in the product directory. The product can now be used.
