Miniconda Installation on zOS

Hi Tamilarasan Pushparaj,

This error may appear because your file system is compressed.
Check this command on USS:
zfsadm fsinfo YOUR.FILE.SYSTEM.DATA.SET.HERE

if it's CO=Compressed try to install miniconda to another ZFS which is NC=Not compressed, or start decompression against compressed one and try again after it is decompressed.

Hi Alex,
I ran the above command against my file system and below is the output. My File system is not compressed and it has enough space. Can you help me here, what needs to be done.

Can you post here the output of the following command:

env | sort

Also:

1. did you upload miniconda to your lpar in binary mode?

2. give us the exact command which you run to install miniconda

3. does /u/zdevops/Rocket folder is empty? If not use /u/zdevops/Rocket/miniconda instead

1. Yes uploaded the file in binary format. Find below file tag


2. Please find command to exec miniconda installation file.



3. /u/zdevops/Rocket is empty.

Can you try to export  the following vars and try again:
export _CEE_RUNOPTS=FILETAG(AUTOCVT,AUTOTAG) POSIX(ON)
export _TAG_REDIR_ERR=txt
export _TAG_REDIR_IN=txt
export _TAG_REDIR_OUT=txt

What is the size of the miniconda? Can you give the output for the following command:

ls -laT miniconda-py39-zos-2022-01-17.run

Thanks! Am able to install miniconda-zos-1.2.1-2020-12-23.run on zOS.

However I am facing another issue while installing GIT (git-2.26.2-pl524_78.tar.bz2). What am i missing here?

--file option is for txt list files, not for tar.bz2, in your case just use
conda install git-2.26.2-pl524_78.tar.bz2
As far as you installing git offline you need to install git dependencies manually in your case it'll be: 

bash: 4.3.48-2 zoss-appdev
curl: 7.73.0-0 zoss-appdev
expat: 2.2.9-4 zoss-appdev
git: 2.26.2-pl524_78 zoss-appdev
libtag: 1.7-0 zoss-appdev
openssl: 1.1.1h-12 zoss-appdev

zlib: 1.2.11-4 zoss-appdev
