Have a customer who wants to use the PDF:API2 and I download it from CPAN (PDF-API2-2.043.tar.gz). I am not sure how install it to USS on z/os. I know there is a CPAN shell but what I tried doesn't seem to work. Any help would be grateful.

Hi Jeff,
Installation via CPAN might work for some Perl packages, but we officially doesn't support it. If you are interested to try it out, we would recommend to follow community documentation
I am delighted to say that there are about 40 Perl modules in our portfolio (see appdev_manifest_1.3.txt files) and we might consider its extension if the request comes from a customer with support contract.

I took the tar.gz file and uncompressed it which made the directories and files. This is on z/os 2.4 USS. I can to converted all the files from ASCII to EBCDIC. I run a simple .pl

# Create a blank PDF file
$pdf = PDF::API2->new(NEW);

But I get this

# perl pdf.pl
Invalid [] range "+-." in regex; marked by <-- HERE in m/^([+-. <-- HERE 0-9]+)/ at /lib/PDF/API2/Basic/PDF/File.pm line 783.

Not sure what is wrong and I can the first question is will PDF:API2 run in zos USS or do I have something wrong. Any help would be grateful.

Hi Jeff,
It might be a good idea to run this module an another platform with the same version of Perl to check if the problem persists.

Thank you for the suggestion but that is not feasible.

My question is there any support for this. Does Rocket Software support provide any? Or is there another forum I can see some guidance?

Hi Jeff,
Rocket does provide support for number of ported open-source tools and Perl packages. At the moment, PDF::API2 Perl module is not included in our portfolio. However, it is possible that we will port and support this module if the request comes from a customer with support contract. You can learn more about our support offering on this page.
