Greetings folks!
Is it possible to call a basic subroutine that returns a counter and items associated with that counter such that someone in PROC could use the counter to pass the item associated with it?
THX!

The PROCWRITE statement (in all versions of Pick BASIC) might be what you need.
Here's a link to some documentation on the UniData/UniBasic version of PROCWRITE.

Doc,
Ben's recommendation of PROCWRITE is a good call. While there are other methods this one seems best.
NOTE: PROC is very powerful - and in many ways can 100% replace legacy BASIC code (though I would not recommend it for many reasons). For my sins - and for non-technical reasons - in the depths of my past I was part of a team that wrote a complete Purchase Ledger system in PROC without a line of BASIC anywhere.

JJ

Really John, that's nothing to be proud of. And are you sure it wasn't RPL (Revolting PROC Language)?
PROC is definitely a question of just because you can doesn't mean you should. Please don't encourage it.

Brian,
It was indeed PQN PROC - and it was done for political reasons on Reality.
I would definitely not recommend it - BASIC is there for a good reason.
