Hello,

Does it exist any manual which explains how to install the runtime for production uses?

I have this information:
Whilst there is a minimum spec for the development side of things, the runtime doesn’t have a clear minimum spec as it all depends on what the application is doing. Also a lot of it depends of the requirement of the Microsoft components (see below), which we cannot really comment on. The runtime has a pretty small footprint but obviously more I/O and database access for an example would require more CPU and RAM but it’s hard to say without knowing what the application is doing. One way to try would be to use an evaluation runtime and build some test application based upon what the existing application does.

The requirements that I can state are :

OS:

Windows XP 64 bit SP2, Windows XP 32-bit SP3, Windows Vista SP1 32/64-bit, Windows 7 32/64-bit, Windows Server 2003 SP2 32/64-bit, Windows Server 2003 R2 32/64-bit, Windows Server 2008 SP2 32/64-bit, Windows Server 2008 R2 32/64-bit

Disk space:

60 Mb for the Sentinel RMS license server

About 90 Mb for the COBOL 2010 Runtime.

Software:

Microsoft .NET Framework 2, 3 or 4 depending on the .NET target.

Microsoft Visual C 2010 Redistributable Package (x86 or x64)

Also if the application targets ASP.NET 4 you will need the Microsoft Web Platform Installer 2.0

We'd like to know in detail what the exact steps to proceed with the installation are needed, in order to try to compose a script to do it remote and automatically. With this in mind, we will hopefully start to realize the amount of work and costs that will take preparing the whole number of POS distributed around, before starting off the development.

Thanks

Check the on-line documentation for installing COBOL Runtime 2010 here:

It covers detailed System Requirements as well as how to install COBOL Runtime 2010 silently and also covers license requirements.

Great! Thank you
