We are using the CorBusiness and CorPortfolio products for our reports.  I created several CorPortfolio pages so that users can run Queries using HyperVu.  I recently went to make changes to them and I no longer have the ability to add or edit the pages.  I verified that I still have permission to the files/directory.  Any ideas what could cause this situation?------------------------------Scott BaxterPresidentW M Plastics Inc, dba Novation Industries------------------------------

Occasionally we get time to tidy things up and document what is essential to our system's operation.A CorVu system evolves over time and documenting it can become a head-ache. Here are a couple of ideas, please suggest any you may have used successfully.1: CORVU.INI : This is the essential properties file for any CorBusiness installation. It contains the files paths, preferences, licensing server and special settings used by a session as well as all the connection definitions for databases and their knowledge libraries. If this gets damaged then you are in a difficult place! Keep a safe copy of it before making any manual changes.You can add commentary to it using a semi-colon at the start of the line and you can rearrange the sections in to a sequence to make more sense as new stuff usually gets added to the end of file. For example, I like to have the [Config] and [Environment] sections near the top of the file and group together all the related environment stuff.e.g. [Config] Passwd

The emails generated from a scheduler task can contain attachments of pdf, html, csv or other outputs generated from a CorVu query or report. You can also choose between plain text or HTML for the body message, which allows you to insert formatting and web-links to the files generated by your scheduler tasks. This way you can send users html links to the scheduler generated output instead of sending huge Excel files or PDFs to clog up their email systems and inboxes.The popular issue at the moment is how to use MS Outlook in Office 365 to send your CorVu emails via a secured smtp. Very often around this time of the new year CorVu queries and prompts fail to calculate dates correctly. They produce odd dates like 31/12/1899 00:00:00 or 01/01/1601 24:00:00 which is very unsettling.It is like the dreaded millennium bug every year - BUT in this case it is not a bug. It's the user definable Calendar function provided to give you the flexibility to define the business's fiscal calendar for each year. Some businesses use a 13 period calendar, it the UK we have the fiscal year-end in March, not December and others have specific month-ends which must fall on a weekend etc..etc. So this means the Calendar definitions file (called default.ca1) has to be part of the annual maintenance procedure for a CorBusiness (& HyperVu) installation.The date functions in CorVu usually use the Calendar function in order to work out fiscal periods, quarters, and first & last dates.The sudden occurrence of Invalid dates in previously healthy results are often the result of having an

Thanks to Arjun at Homeserve USA for his persistence on exploring this option in the CorVu Data Server Manager Knowledge Library. Previously I had only used virtual tables to achieve the same capability. In the Knowledge library (KL) you can create multiple Enterprise relationship diagrams (ERDs) containing your selected tables, and visualise the joins between them. The obvious temptation is to create additional ERDs for each reporting requirement and change the joins as needed. HOWEVER the catch is that changing the join in one ERD will impact the join in all other ERDs!! If I remove a link between two tables, it will remove it from all other ERDs, or if I edit a link to be an outer join it changes all occurrences of that link in all ERDs. This is a major problem which is sometimes not discovered until query designs have been committed.
