Hi all,We have a problem with the spooler counter, once a month we make the Data Base Maintenance, before we start we use the MASTER OFF ALL to close all the sesions of universe in the server, sometimes when we do that , the spooler counter loose the consecutive and jump to a bigger number.What we can do to avoid this?Thanks for your ideas.Jose Luis Gutiérrez de la Peza

hi We need a help with an issue. We have a machine that several users access and run the Microfocus Solo and whenever a Solo is instantiated it drops another user's, even creating the instance with another port. Is there a solution for this?

All,Running UniVerse 11.3.1 on Redhat.I have been using the data conversion OCONV(DATE(),"DYMD[4'',2'',2]" then the 4'' (2-single quotes) and 2'' (2-single quotes) provides the date in YYYYMMDD without dashed or slashes.  Works great.The BASIC Manual Page 533 shows MT [H] [P] [Z] [S] [c] [[f1, f2, f3]]. I've tried different variations of "MTS''[2,2,2]" (S'' is two single quotes). Is there a way to convert a time into HHMMSS without using a second function to strip away the ':'s.Jon

Latest patch Uniface 10.3.02 patch 10.3.02.064 for W32 is downloadable but not documented in "Patch Listing for release 10.3.02", so i don't know what bug fixes are related to it.

I'm trying to evaluate Enterprise Developer. What I've found is that installation of Micro Focus Enterprise Developer 7 in Visual Studio 2019 Enterprise Edition 16.11.2 wipes out most of the entries for Tools > Options > Environment > Fonts and Colors, including the Text Editor section. Before installation After installation:  The MFED documentation page for Customizing the Text Fonts and Colors says to go to Tools > Options > Environment > Fonts and Colors > Show settings for > Text Editor, but once you install MFED, the Text Editor option (and about half of the other options) vanish. This is not fixed by devenv /setup, using Tools > Import and Export Settings to reset the environment, repairing Visual Studio, or repairing Enterprise Developer. What does fix it is uninstalling MFED, but then it is broken again when you reinstall. How do you have both Enterprise Developer installed and retain the Options > Environment > Fonts and Colors se

This application currently has GUI Java based which gives CICS-MQ "EXEC CICS LINK" kind of calls to CICS modules in Mainframes which is CICS-MQ is it possible to have CICS-MQ on RHEL8 on MFED platform? or do I need to change the CICS-MQ calls to ESSERVER, ESHANDLE, ESCONN, etc kind of layer? Ultimate goal is to move it on Cloud. Can someone please take a look at this question and update.#EnterpriseDeveloper

We're about to switch from PVCS to Git, and to start build our projects in Azure Devops (TFS). Problem now is that we have some 200 - 300 individual VC 7 INT/GNT programs which we would like to build and deploy individually. And that seems to imply that we would need to put each and every program in a separate project, which would be rather inconvenient for all involved. Is there another solution to this?

I periodically get a capture error when attempting to perform an execute in a phantom background process.Unable to create capture file.[EMFILE] Too many open filesThe next transaction just a little while later in the same phantom process  performs the same execute operation without errors. Is this error related to an overall system limit or is it  specific to a user/process?I am wondering if if it happening more often than I know as it might not be recorded in a user session.I am running Universe version 11.1.3  (Yes, I know it is time to upgrade).Is there something I can monitor or adjust to fix this issue?As a fallback, I am planning to change the executed statement to a subroutine call. Do you think this would fix this error?All insight into this error condition would be helpful.

One of our vendors converted their application from NetExpress to Visual COBOL and we have programs that interface with their system so we are having to make the jump to Visual COBOL as well.  I am using the same method of invoking a GNT as previously done under NetExpress using the RUN command but am getting this error message.  Not sure if I need to add a folder to the PATH statement or something else entirely.  Also, the GNT is compiled under 6.0 but trying to run against a 4.0 version of Visual COBOL on another server.  In addition, when on this 4.0 server, merely typing in RUN at a command prompt results in the same error.   Load error : file 'MFRUN.gnt'error code: 179, pc=0, call=1, seg=0179 error message text not found

I am extracting incremental data from production files to be tarred up and ftped to another physical site.  I have created small type 18 "work" files for each one of these and want them to be as small as possible to conserve on disk space and ftp time.  After they are transported to the other physical site, they would be used to update the master file(s) via a COPY command, which I would not think would be greatly impacted by a tightly compacted file.I have been using HASH-AID and ANALYZE-FILE to see what each chosen group distribution looks like, but am not sure what I am shooting for.  When we analyze files for production usage, I strive to keep the group distribution skewed to the left (25%, 50%) buckets.  Since this need is purely size related, should I be looking for the modulo that skews heavily towards the right (200%) without hitting the "full" bucket?I shall appreciate any feedback.Nelson------------------------------Nelson SchrothpresidentC3 Completeshop LLC------------------
