Hi,

Hopefully someone can help or shed some light on this for me please.

We have a customer who requires cash drawers for a trade counter.
We've made amendments to our software to open the cash drawer and they work fine.

Basically the cash drawer has a Y cable, one end goes to the parallel port on the PC, the other end goes to the printer.
You then print to the printer and send a hex '07'

The problem is basically as follows.
If the cash drawer is linked to a dot matrix printer the drawer will open fine when we trigger it.
If the cash drawer is linked to a laser jet printer it will not open?

Any ideas?

Thanks.
Shaun

You probably have thought of this, but do you send the data as SPOOLER-DIRECT?
Another thing worth trying is to change the print processor in the printer setup to RAW (I assume you are not doing any formatting anyway?)
I can imagine if the laser is postscript it might be that the driver has some "protection" against low ascii. If so, and it supports PCL or Capsl or IBM, try change to one of those.

Thanks Gisle, I shall look into this.
It already does use SPOOLER-DIRECT, and quite right there is no formatting.
