I have said this in these forums before, but this is a good way to state it explicitly.
We only need it on Sun machines initially, but we have other customers with Linux clients that would also need this.
Not interested in a full GUI runtime, just the thin client.
I have not tried it, but could you run acuthin.exe using the "wine" project that is attempting to emulate the Windows API on LINUX and UNIX.

We have tried WINE.
Although it is a fairly useful product, there are a few reasons why it is officially still in Beta (the developers are currently working on releasing version 0.9).
The thin client works reasonably well in WINE, but there are screen painting, font, focus and most importantly, tree-view bugs.
But besides all that, WINE is useless for our biggest customer that runs X-terminals connected to Sun SPARC servers running Solaris 9. Without a single x86-based platform (apart from the occasional laptop) they have nothing to run WINE on. Remember that WINE stands for "WINE Is Not an Emulator". It does not emulate an x86 CPU, it merely provides the Windows API (or at least tries to).
No, we would much rather see Acu do a specific port that would cut out the need for these type of 'layers'.
And that's probably only going to happen when the USA follows the rest of the world's lead and turns it's adoring gaze away from Micro$oft. :rolleyes:
