Icon in 8.1 runtime.

Up until we upgraded to the 8.1 runtime from the 7.2 runtime and earlier, we have always integrated our application icon by replacing one or more of the embedded icons in the runtime. This worked beautifully and provided a great looking icon both in the task bar and in the application window.

We upgraded to 8.1 and now this functionality is gone. The task bar still displays the modified embedded icon in the runtime but the application window continues to use the default runtime icon even though it no longer exists in the runtime because we replaced it. Using the ICON = option we are able to display a very unattractive 16 color icon to the application window. Our icon doedn't translate well to 16 color so this is a problem for us. Are we doing something wrong or is this by design?

Below is an example of the application window icon under the 7.2 and 8.1 runtime. 8.1, 8.3 and 9.0 runtimes all show the same icon.

The technique you have used, is not approved by us.

Having said that, there are icons in the atermmgr.dll as well, which are being used. You may want to try replace these as well.

Note however that this might change again in later versions. I would suggest you raise an enhancement request of being able to set the application and window icon on your own. This is the better way.
