In ZMF 83, the promotion cleanup processing has been modified so that a new transaction '70' is generated if the install package was promoted to a test environment(s).  When the respective CMN25 or CMN30 job executes (uses the same skel to build the cleanup service), the jobcard is still using the setup in A.A.8 however, the job being submitted is CMN70xxxxx jobname via CMNEX008.

This creates an issue in that there are some remote sites (as in our case) that have specific jobcard requirements for the jobname etc.  For instance, we have a remote site that the application needs to have //#xxxxxx as jobcard for multiple reasons.

Also, when trying to determine why a cleanup failed, prior to V830, the jobcard was the same as entered in A.A.8.  Now, the jobcard is CMNx70xx making it difficult to locate and diagnose.

We are requesting that this promotion cleanup build process be either modified or moved away from CMNEX008 and a skel (or combination thereof) be used.  This way, administrators have more flexibility in how the process is executed.

Hi Clark,

The job names for promotion cleanup during install were change as requested by enhancement 18657 to follow the same job name standards used by the other install and backout jobs.  This was requested to make it "easy to see or locate ALL the jobs associated with the install".

This naming convention is applied by ZMF to install jobs irrespective of whether exit CMNEX008 is active.  Since this naming convention conflicts with your site standards, are you using CMNEX008 to reapply your site standards for install jobs, such as the CMN20 job?  If so, you can apply the same customization to the promotion cleanup  install jobs as done for other install jobs as follows.
000260 X08$1000 DS    0H

000272          CLI   X08$ORGN,X08$FRPM   remote site job?
There is related change request 407002 (Improve ability to customize installation promotion cleanup jobcards using CMNEX008) in ZMF release 8.3 Patch 2.  This introduces a new X08$CIND value to simplify identifying install promotion cleanup jobs.

If I'm misunderstanding the issue, please let me know.
