Is there a place where I can find the meaning of the different "Errno" for "ASLM: Semaphore failures"? In this particular case I have a customer that reports that he gets "Errno=1008" after a Windows upgrade - can't find anything around 1008 anywhere...
Hi, I'm trying to use the c$java sentence but the file status return CJAVA-INVALIDARG VALUE -1. CALL "C$JAVA" USING CJAVA-CALL, OBJECT-HANDLE, "Validate", "(XX)X", "Efacturae.xml", "3.0", FIELD-RETURN GIVING STATUS-VAL. What's does it means this value? Thanks.
After few hours i managed to start small native cobol program, but - i can not debug it. I got error 179 (MFRUN.gnt cant be found during program chain...) . Also, i got this message; Geladen: RUNTRIG- Nicht für Debugging kompiliert [CTF] Anynone has that problem solved? Thanks, alex#Error179
Microsoft have a XMLHTTP COM Object that can be used to issue HTTP requests against a server. Unfortunately this object does not any timeout function is an HTTP request is taking a long time to complete. There is however a ServerXMLHTTP class that implements a setTimeouts method. This class compatable with the existing XMLHTTP module so you just need to change the class id in your code. For example: XMLHTTP is class "$OLE$MSXML2.XMLHTTP.6.0" to XMLHTTP is class "$OLE$MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP.6.0" #COMMicrosoftXMLHTTPClass
In native code (gnt , dll , exe , so) Micro Focus COBOL will optimize subscript access. This optimization is controlled via the BOUNDOPT compiler directive. The optimizations can impact code migrated from other platforms. Consider this case where a table is passed (by the caller) in Linkage to the callee. The caller code is:- working-storage section. 01 ws-data. 03 ws-data1 pic x(80). 03 ws-data2 pic x(80). 03 ws-data3 pic x(80). 03 ws-data4 pic x(80). 03 ws-data5 pic x(80). 03 ws-data6 pic x(80). 03 ws-data7 pic x(80). 03 ws-data8 pic x(80). 03 ws-data9 pic x(80). 03 ws-data10 pic x(80). 03 ws-data11 pic x(80). 03 ws-data12 pic x(80). 03 ws-data13 pic x(80). 03 ws-data14 pic x(80). 03 ws-data15

Problem Error “COBCH1501S Insufficient memory” Need to adjust Xms and Xmx settings in eclipse.ini Solution If you are doing large projects it is a good idea to increase the java HEAP size for your eclipse installation. There is a file in the eclipse directory eclipse.ini that needs changing To find this file Look at properties of visual COBOL start menu Select properties And highlight the start in directory This should contain something like this. C:\\Users\\Public\\Micro Focus\\vc21upd1pkg70439\\eclipse Open window explorer and navigate to that directory. In this directory edit the file using a editor I use notepad change –Xms and –Xmx settings There are many thoughts on values to use here maybe 512 fo Xms minimum size of memory And 1024m for Xmx maximum size of memory or 1g To look like this Now close down eclipse if open and start eclipse again so we can check the settings have been applied. Go to help>about eclipse Then installation Details Sele
Problem: Customer has an ASP.NET Web application written in Visual COBOL which does a call to an unmanaged COBOL .dll.The .dll is located in the web applications bin folder along with the calling program yet when a call is made a 173 error "Program Not Found" occurs. How can this be resolved? Resolution: When an ASP.NET application is run, the sources for the web pages are moved to a temporary location, compiled and run from that temporary location so the default folder is no longer the bin folder..The unmanaged .dlls are not moved to this temprary location so the web application needs to know where to look for these files. It is therefore necessary to place the location of these unmanaged .dlls within the PATH environment variable. This can be done directly within the web applications web.config file by right-clicking on web.config in Solution Explorer and selecting the Edit option. You can then add the PATH environment variable and set it to the value of the folder in which you
Problem Customer has created an ASP.NET Web Application in Visual COBOL which needs to do a P/Invoke call to an unmanaged COBOL program by using the following code:01 pp procedure-pointer.01 next-prog pic x(20) value "myentry". set pp to entry "DECHANGE" call next-progThis works fine if the program is debugged using the Visual Studio interner Development Web Server but when the Web Server is changed to use Local IIS instead the following error message is displayed when executing the set pp to entry ... statement: Why? Resoulution: This error occurs because when running under IIS you must link the unmanaged COBOL .dll as dynamic instead of Shared on the COBOL Link option tab of the Project Properties page. This is because the search mechanism for the COBOL run-time system cblrtsm.dll is different when run under IIS. The error occurs because the run-time system cannot be found. When linking the pro
Problem: The license file created by Activator needs to be in the AcuGT\\bin directory because that directory is shared out to run on other PCs via a mapped drive. The Activator puts the license somewhere else, then it must be located and moved to that bin directory. Is there a way to create the license directly in the bin directory? Resolution: Beginning in version 9.0 the Activator creates the license in this directory: C:\\ProgramData\\Micro Focus\\extend\\9.0.0\\x86 (or x64 for 64-bit installations) For Windows XP it uses: C:\\Documents and Settings\\All Users\\Application Data\\Micro Focus\\extend\\9.0.0\\x86 To select a different destination simply use the Activator command line options: activator /DESTINATION=C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Micro Focus\\Acucbl900\\AcuGT\\bin /PCODE= <code here> /PKEY= <key here> /DIALOG=NO#license#activator
Problem: When running a program via Thin Client a push-button on a non-active window must be clicked twice before the button activates. The first click activates the window and the second click activates the push-button. When running “normally” (not with Thin Client) the push-button activates on the first click. Resolution: In a Thin Client environment the CMD-ACTIVATE events are delayed until after the Windows notification routine receiving the event has completed. To allow the user access to activate push-buttons on non-active windows a configuration variable must be set. In the Runtime configuration file add TC_DELAY_ACTIVATE 0 to turn off the delay.
Problem In .Net how can COBOL find out the regional settings that are currently in use for a class. Solution The .Net Framework provides the class System.Globalization.CultureInfo that allows you to obtain regional characteristics. Some sample code that uses this class is:- $set ilusing"System.Globalization" program-id. Program1 as "CurrentCulture.Program1". data division. working-storage section. 01 Cult type CultureInfo. procedure division. ***** Obtan the Culture Information from the Current Thread set Cult to type CultureInfo::CurrentCulture ***** Display some Values from the Culture Class display "Current Locale= " Cult::EnglishName display "Current Date and Time Format = " Cult::DateTimeFormat::FullDateTimePattern display "Currency Symbol = " Cult::NumberFormat::CurrencySymbol display "Decimal Indicator = " Cult::Number
I accidentally stopped the Relativity Data Manager, and now I can't figure out how to re-start it. I tried rebooting my PC thinking that it would automatically re-start when my PC rebooted, but that is not the case. When ever I try to run Relativity via the Designer, or via Excel I get the following message: Error -4151 communicating with Data Manager Monitor (Error 0002). I tried running the Data Manager Monitor that is in the Relativity Folder, and the message I get is: Error communicating with Monitor Service Pipe not found \\\\.\\pipe\\Liant_Relativity_Monitor_Pipe Anyone know what I need to do???

We used to get this issue but now it came back. I have users that get an Upgrade to IE 5 or higher when they try to print from our Thin Client app. I copied the latest AcuBenchPrint.dll ot the correct directory on their pc but that still doesn't work. Anyone have a fix for this?
In the CICS API for Visual COBOL, the ROUTE call isn't supported. Does Micro Focus have a recommended work around?
Problem: Paged grids may not work correctly anymore with Thin Client 9.1.2.1.Usually, these grids are loaded using the following syntax: MODIFY grid-handle, ACTION = ACTION-FIRST-PAGE Starting with release 9.1.2.1, runtime does not enter automatically in the Event section and the grid is shown as empty. Resolution: Add the following environment variable in the runtime configuration file (cblconfi): ECN_2425 FALSE By default, ECN-2425 is enabled. This ECN refers to an enhancement developed to give a performance improvement to the Paged Grid control. When you disable this ECN you no longer get the performance improvements (although slightly noticeable with the latest releases of ACU runtime) and the ACTION-FIRST-PAGE event is managed correctly.#9.1.2.1#Pagedgrid#Acuthin
Problem: Invalid or missing parameter to "M$ALLOC" COBOL error at 000021 in XZ_MOP Resolution: XZ_MOP is a module of XZOOM, a third-party tool once provided to ACU customers to open and review Vision files. Since this is a very old tool it is no longer supported. A possible workaround to fix the reported COBOL error is to recompile the whole tool using one of the latest versions of the compiler: 8.1.3.1 or 9.1.2.1. This of course requires the possibility to have the COBOL source code of the tool itself. Since this tool is quite old, it may be that it was originally compiled with old versions and/or with even older retro-compatibility options. I.e.: release 6.2 and "-z52 -Dv=32". The solution usually is to recompile XZOOM with recent compilers, removing the -zNN -cNN compiler options. Another reason that may cause COBOL errors at run time is the bit version of the compiled objects. In the previous example, the compiled objects were compliant with 32-bit servers, but not with 64-bit
PROBLEM Using CBL_COPY_FILE returning status-code. 0 = successful non-0 = not successful Is there a way to interpret the value of status-code to determine the reason for the failure similar to the file status and extended file status? RESOLUTION Actually, the value returned for status-code if used or in the RETURN-CODE special register is a file status code. You can check the success of the call by examining RETURN-CODE. Interpreting the return code as a file status code If any of the routines CBL_CHECK_FILE_EXIST CBL_COPY_FILE CBL_CREATE_FILE CBL_DELETE_FILE CBL_OPEN_FILE CBL_READ_FILE CBL_RENAME_FILE CBL_WRITE_FILE CBL_CHANGE_DIR CBL_CREATE_DIR CBL_DELETE_DIR CBL_READ_DIR fails, the RETURN-CODE register contains a file status value indicating the failure. This file status is always the standard ANSI'74 file status value. If no ANSI'74 file status is defined for the error, an extended file status is returned (9/nnn where nnn is the run-time system error number). You should, th
I set up to use Team Foundation Service, which is Microsoft's cloud based version of Team Foundation Server. I've set up a build definition that does a build when I check in program changes but it always gives this error: The imported project "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\MSBuild\\Micro Focus\\Visual COBOL\\v1.0\\MicroFocus.COBOL.targets" was not found. Confirm that the path in the <Import> declaration is correct, and that the file exists on disk. All Visual COBOL project files have this line: <Import Project="$(MSBuildExtensionsPath)\\Micro Focus\\Visual COBOL\\v1.0\\MicroFocus.COBOL.targets" /> Team Foundation Service Build is still in preview which means Microsoft is still making improvements to it. Has anyone successfully used it? How would we go about getting Microsoft to add support for Visual COBOL ? Is Team Foundation Server a better choice at this time ?#VisualCOBOL
Hi, I am using Managed COBOL on .NET and I fetch a list of customers from the Oracle Database and then add them to a list of type List[Customer] the problem is at the debug everything is okay and the list is 100% filled with the right objects with the right values and when it's returned to be set to another list on the other also managed project - I've separated the business logic from the desktop view in two projects- the result is having the list filled with the object of the last entry of the list that was originally fetched for example if the list has the values 1 2 3 4 the result of returning the list is 4 4 4 4 and I repeat at debug time every thing is okay at the business logic project!! could anyone please tell me what's going on ?? Best Regards#COBOL
This article describes Java constructor throwing exception issue when calling Java from OO COBOL. Problem: Before the delivery of Net Express 5.1 Websync2, it was not possible for an OO COBOL program to consume a Java class's constructor that throws an exception. This has been fixed in Net Express 5.1 Websync2. The COBOL Code which creates an instance of JAVA class SimpleClass appears below. It is also attached to this article. ExceptionCatcher.cbl $set ooctrl ( p-f) program-id. ExceptionCatcher. class-control. SimpleClass is class "$JAVA$SimpleClass" EntryCallback is class "entrycll" JavaExceptionManager is class "javaexpt" ExceptionManager is class "exptnmgr" javasup is class "javasup" . working-storage section.& procedure division. *>---Set up Exception handler invoke EntryCallback "new
