In the applications we have mounted on HP-UX to write the XML using the command "write" are always written with pretty print format, ie with tabs. Is there any way that these XML are written without this pretty print format? Regards.

In the archived forums there is a great example of controlling excel through ole automation. I have used the sample program from time to time with out a problem, however I am trying to duplicate a VBA macro that formats a header row nicely. I have most of it working except "AutoFit" and "FreezePanes". AutoFit is more important to me than FreezePanes.  Hello,  we are migrating our Cobol-Programs from Solaris to Linux.  Our Linux-Environment:  - SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP1  (x86_64) - Server Express V5.1 - My workstation: Windows XP SP3 - 2 GB RAM A few programs throw the following error-messages: Part of the compilation-protokoll:  " cob64 -cgx r00157.cbl Execution error : file 'token'error code: 114, pc=0, call=1, seg=0114     Attempt to access item beyond bounds of memory (Signal 11) cob64: error(s) in compilation: r00157.cbl" On Solaris the compilation of these programs is working without any problems. Gentlemen, Is it possible for Server Express 5.0 to run an CGI EXE created on Net Express 5.1? I noticed that i am unable to run any of the exe i created on 5.1, when i run them directly (not trough the browser) it generates the following error, (the exe created on 5.0 does not show this error): Dynamic binding error un run-time entry point _mFgmain2An attempt was made to bind to a run-time library for NetExpress version 5.0 (using the default installed version) but that library is version 5.0 and does not meet the necessay dynamic binding requirementsThe dynamic binding for this EXE/DLL requires at least versin 5.1 of the NetExpress run-time library CBLRTSS.DLL And when run via browser it just loops indefinitly, showing nothing. Is it possible, or am i missing something?

The following code works fine but iT opens a new tab each time it is exexuted using IE9.   Hoping that it is possible to open in an existing tab if available. We are running a ten years old desktop based application. Presentation layer or GUI is built on Net Express deployed on Windows machines and business logic (or transaction program) is built on Micro Focus Cobol deployed on UNIX server. Cobol programs use embedded SQL to persist data on Oracle database. We are now evaluating different options to switch the application to a web based application. Organization has taken strategic decision to use .NET framework for any future development though J2EE option is still open if it has significant edge over .NET. Cost and quick turn around is key factor while evaluating different options. We have following options in consideration. 1. Replace Net Express front end by .NET and re-use micro foucs cobol transaction program and embeded SQL. 2. Decommission existing application and re-write a brand new application on .NET framework. #1 option sounds best choice as it involves less development and less QA time. Some of our Windows forms are made up of tabs. Each tab contains data relevant to the header. My first tab on form XYZ is called 'Personal'. The first field on tab 'Personal' is called 'Per-Code'. My tab ORDER says that 'Per-Code' is value 0.0.0 with the Personal tab having a tab order of 0. I have no other tab values of 0.0.0 within my tab of Personal. At runtime I use the code Invoke Per-Code::Focus() BUT on running the form the field Per-Code doesn't become active until  I press the <TAB> key when the field Per-Code then becomes 'live' and editable. What command do I need to use to have it so that I don't have to press the <TAB> key first? I note that this does NOT happen when I'm NOT using a tabbed form!

We have certain fields on forms designated with a 'Leave' event so that in once the user leaves the field the field is validated. In the event that the field is deemed to be in error focus is returned to the field and the user then re-enters the data. I have a problem in that the user wishes to leave the form by way of an Exit button. Clicking on the button when a field is in error though generates a 'leave' event for the incorrect field even though there is a 'Click' event attached to the Exit button which says 'Get Out of form' and we go round in a circle with the user continually being presented with the field in error in focus instead of the 'Exit button' event being done. How do I overide one event with another so that the Exit button 'Click' event supercedes the 'Leave' event of the data field on the form?

I'm modifying an old program that makes use of W$MESSAGEBOX, and I'm not able to find any documentation on it. I'd specifically like to know if the string containing the message to be shown needs to be terminated with low-values. The fact that it's not documented or included in a list of AcuCOBOL library routines makes me wonder if we should be using something else instead. Is anyone familiar with W$MESSAGEBOX and know why it can't be found in the documentation? Is it deprecated and there's something else we should use instead? Thanks.

I tried to install the trial versions (visual cobol eclipse and visual cobol visual studio) After installation (which seems to work properly) i will alwas be asked for a license key after programm startup. It is possible to cancel the license key window, but doing this both versions will not allow to open a cobol project (there are no cobol projects listed to choose from ).   Same for both versions (eclipse and visual studio) same behaviour on Win7 (64) and Vista (x86) both versions are german Please help   Thank you das      

Hi, We are using Cobol v4.x programs compiled into GNT files running on various Microsoft Windows platforms. On a current project we are using Windows 2010 server R2 and Windows 7 as client with Pervasive v11 Database engine. Everything works fine on the clients; but when trying to run the application directly on the server or thru Terminal Server, then we get the message: Execution Error: file 'TRIGGER' error code: 114, pc=0, call=1, seg=0 (Signal 11) Anone knows what it could be? Why is it saying "file" TRIGGER - is the RTS unable to find a TRIGGER file? Maybe the problem is related to Pervasive and BTRV/RTS from Microfocus? Thanks a lot for any hints! Anyone know if is it possible add Ctrl C & Ctrl V function to an acucobol project? In entry field if i press right mouse i can copy and paste but Ctrl C and Ctrl-V don't work? Some environment problem?

Because our print standards use HP PCL5 escape sequences to control the printers, we have been using the SPOOLER-DIRECT facility to print all of our reports without going through the windows drivers. That has worked really well for several years. Recently we have run into a Windows ASP provider who only uses EMF Printer Drivers, and SPOOLER-DIRECT (so far) does not work with EMF Printer Drivers.  I.e. When our programs print to one of the EMF printer drivers nothing appears anywhere. (There is nothing in the Windows Printer queue.) If we change SPOOLER-DIRECT to SPOOLER in our program, the text of the report appears along with our HP PCL5 escape sequences printing as character strings with no other effect on the printer. I haven't found a good solution for this on the Web.  Project A in solution 1 wants to call a program in project B in solution 2.  Because project B is in another solution I don't see it on the Project tab of the Add Reference dialog so I add a reference to project B's dll file from the Browse tab.  Once I've done this I can call project B's programs from project A.  The problem is that I'm doing this for the debug build and looking inside the cobol project file the reference is shown as  "debug\\ProjectB.dll".  All of our compiled programs are being output to this directory.  When we later do a release build all programs will be output to the release directory and we will need to replace all references.  Because we are keeping our solutions small this could require a lot of work. What is the best way to add references to projects in other solutions ?#VisualCOBOL
