Hello folks, I am dealing with quite a lot of fields in the CALL "PC_PRINTER_DEFAULT_FONT" and in the CALL "PC_PRINT_FILE" but I have never worked with COMP-5 format. Would please send a couple of examples or explanations to me. I did not succeed in the first seaches throgh the Internet. Thanks a lot, in advance, Cheers. Rui Natal
Hello folks, I could see that in the properties of a CALL "PC_PRINTER_DEFAULT_PROPERTIES" we have a field named cblte-pp-paperwidth. I could observe that the printing keeps a little margin at the left and at the right. My customer would like to print in all the width of the paper, with no margin. Please do not ask me why, OK ? The question is: How do I have to code this ? Any sample, example or hints and tips ? Looking forward to hearing from you soon, Cheers. Rui Natal
Hi Guys, I have a programmer that is stuggling with a few concepts. We have InstantSQL configured and working beautifully. We would like to perform a query and then insert the result of the query into COBOL variables to then compare and do some business logic within Cobol's files. The below query returns about 50 lines each with 8 columns. What would be the most efficient way for cobol to use this data and apply business logic for example does the invoice id exist in cobol's data files? My programmer is going down the track of using a work file for this rather than processing in memory. Any help with concepts on feeding a result of a query into cobol variables to apply business logic for such things like does the invoice already exist in the cobol data (index seq. files) or not, if not, write to the data to the file. Regards Magishme See below for example code... -------------------------- 01 ws-emp-data. 05 ws-index
Using Visual Cobol 2.0 I am getting a return-code value of 255 when calling a .DLL module. I get this return code immediately after calling the module (I display return-code as the first line in the sub-routine). Is this some kind of run time error? I've tried changing compiler directives and it doesn't seem to help. Any clues as to how I figure out what the error is? Thanks!#visualcobolreturn-code255
Is there a way to obtain the folder wich i'm running an application? I have a program that is being used in two different folders. It uses the same logic for both, but i can't mix it's files. Altering the programs to select wich folder to run is not a option. I need to do this without user input. Thanks in advance
Sorry to bother woth this one again Chris. You wrote we should deinstall VisualCobol and VisualCobol_server and then reinstall VisualCobol. We havent got the setup file for VisualCobol any more. Would the VisualCobol for eclipse solve the problem too?
We're using VisualCobol on Cent OS (64-Bit) This message is received when trying to compile: Load error : file 'bin/cobchecker64'error code: 173, pc=0, call=1, seg=0173 Called program file not found in drive/directory I've seen the answer in kb.microfocus.com/.../article.aspx where we are advised to get the product Server Express and I've also seen kb.microfocus.com/.../article.aspx in which it is suggested the $COBDIR should be first when setting the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. Even though the article was referring to another product, I gave it a try but it didn't solve the problem. I've also seen a further article: supportline.microfocus.com/.../KBdo278.HTM which advised to not install in several directories. We have a $HOME/VisualCobol directory and also a $HOME/VisualCobol_server directory. Whenever I tried to install to an already populated directory I got the error message that the directory is not empty. How then can we not install to 2 diff
This might sound complicated but... Our 'current' NET EXPRESS system is built using ONE .EXE which then calls .int files as required. We're trying to replicate this idea by having a single 'top level' .EXE file (A.EXE) which then calls out to .DLL files (representing the old .ints). Some of the .DLLs we've built contain a 'top level form program' which contains new 'managed code' which will then call out to 'non managed' code (old COBOL code in a VisCobol wrapper) which we've built as .DLL files in their own right but are referenced within the 'managed code .DLL). For test purposes and to make sure these new 'top level' .DLLs work we initially built them as .EXE's in their own right and they work perfectly well. We've then changed the output type for these top level programs, to 'Class Library', and built them as .DLLs. We've then attemped to 'build' these .DLLs into A.EXE as adde
Ladies and Gentlemen, I have used cobconfig.cfg Environment Variable and the output was just OK in a A4 style sheet. But now I have got to print a report in the landscape style. Any hints and tips. Thanks a lot in advance. Cheers. Rui Natal
Hi, Using the command DSDIR (in the NX Dialog) I can find and return to the program a filename from my PC, which works great. However is there a command that works like the Visual Cobol Toolbox option "FolderBrowserDialog" this can locate and return a Directory name? Many thanks Neil.
Hi, I just got a new PC that has Windows 7 installed, and I am having issues compiling, The compiler itself runs fine, but It seems the RMPATH is not being set because it cannot find my copy libraries. my RMPATH is set correctly in the registry configuration: K:\\WOW\\8.0\\COPYLIB;C:\\PROGRA~2\\Liant\\RMCOBO~1;, but when I compile, I get 914 errors because the copylibraries are not found. Any ideas on what I can do, or what I have setup incorrectly? Could it be my rights? I am set as an Administrator...
When compiling for debugging, is there a setting somewhere to only compile source that has changed instead of compiling all source?#VisualStudio#VisualCOBOL
RM/COBOL Source program if compile version 12 then it takes more space but if compile version 8 than it takes less space for object file size. And version 12 takes time to load and execute but version 8 not take much time. Please give some suggestion why taking more space file size for version 12.
Almost 1000 of you downloaded the beta version and the full release is now generally available. www.microfocus.com/vs2012 Many thanks to those who have already taken a look and if you haven't done so already, now's a great time to try it out. Looking forward to your feedback. Scot Nielsen
Good day, I am currently using WIN$PRINT to create documents from my ACUCOBOL programs. I need to be able to print portrait text on a landscape page. I know that I can change the font angle to achieve this and have managed to change the angle of the column but for some reason the text isn't printing. Has anybody ever tried this before? I have included the piece of code that sets the font, is there something that I am not doing correctly? DESTROY COL-FONT-HANDLE(COL-NUM). CALL "WIN$PRINTER" U
Hi, the error message in the subject appears when running the setup immediately after the following line: Installing product files to /opt/microfocus/VisualCOBOL_server. I'm trying to install Visual Cobol and keep getting this error. We're using 64-bit Cent OS which I realise is an unsupported platform, but as far as I can see the settings in cobopt and cobopt64 appear to be correct (dont contain dead links) with the exception of LPI_SEARCH_PATH. cobopt -C nolistset GCC_LIB=/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-redhat-linux/4.1.1/32set GCC_SEARCH_PATH=$GCC_LIB:$GCC_LIB/..:/usr/lib:/libset GCC_EXCEP_LIB=gcc_sset LPI_SEARCH_PATH=${LPI_SEARCH_PATH:-/opt/lib/l cobopt64 -C nolistset GCC_LIB=/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-redhat-linux/4.1.1set GCC_SEARCH_PATH=$GCC_LIB:/usr/lib64:/usr/libset GCC_EXCEP_LIB=gcc_sset LPI_SEARCH_PATH=${LPI_SEARCH_PATH:-/opt/lib/lib} I'd like to see what install.sh is actually doing but can't find it anywhere either.#VisualCOBOL

I am trying to write a Visual Cobol 2.0 program that calls the fsmgr utility. I want to be able to call a program that will bring a fileshare server down and then back up (this will ensure no end users are still online). According to Micro Focus documentation (http://documentation.microfocus.com:8080/help/index.jsp) I need to do the following if I want to run it on Windows: Linking Fileshare Manager Applications On Windows, if your program calls the Fileshare Manager, you need to link in the Fileshare manager object file (fsmgr.obj) when you create an executable file. I can not find the fsmgr.obj in any of the Microfocus Visual Cobol 2.0 directories. I can find it under my old Net Express 3.1 directory c:\\NetExpress\\Base\\LIB\\. Shouldn't there be a newer version under c:\\Program Files\\Micro Focus\\Visual COBOL 2010\\lib? Can I link with the version from Net Express 3.1? Or is the fsmgr.obj missing from the VC 2.0 files?
RM/COBOL version 12 is much slow than version 8
I've tried a few times to google the following: "microfocus setup linux cobsetenv parameter". One of the links returned is: Download and Installation Procedure - Micro Focus Community community.microfocus.com/.../22705_Downloa... Before installing on Oracle Linux, you must create a number of symbolic links. ... To install in a different location use the -installlocation="Location" parameter to specify an alternative directory ... /opt/microfocus/VisualCOBOL/bin/cobsetenv ... which looks as though it's going to help. Whenever I click on the link though I get: Micro Focus Borland Group Not Found The requested Group cannot be found. Could you please help me to get to this link. Alternatively you could send me the docu about the symbolic links I need thanks.
I have 2 questions that I have not been able to find the answers to in any documentation: 1) Our Net Express 3.1 application used a run time switch of K4. What does that run time option do? We are migrating to Visual Cobol and was wondering if we should keep that switch in our new environment. 2) One of our consultants used a -N option when linking a program (cbllink.exe) from a command line in Visual Cobol 2.0. What does the -N option do? Thanks in advance! -Brian#visualcobolruntimeswitchlinking
I'm trying to call my current classes (written in OO Cobol with NetX 4) from a new .net class which i have develop with NetX 5.1 but without changes in the old code. Now, in order to use COBOL Classes, i have create a COM Wrapper (build with Net4) which i call from the UI (it's C#). Now i want to stop using that COM object and replace it with a .net proxy server. Is it possible? Could you help me with the coding? Thank you Andy
