Our automated testing includes some tests that attempt to detect any performance degradation.  In general, version 12 performas as well as, and in some cases better than, version 8.  However there is a large set of factors to be considered.  The most common report on this has to do with Windows, where Microsoft has changed networking protocols in a manner beyond our control.
