Copying files between server and PCs works very fast, but when it comes to accessing Vision files on the server from AcuCobol applications on the PCs, it is very slow.Earlier we used Mandrake Linux and this was much faster on a 100Mbit network. So, we wonder if anyone knows how to speed up access on a RedHat.The PCs are running Windows Vista Business, but we also tried Windows XP with aqually results./Lars-Bo

Normally, to create a new program, we copy paste the .psf and .wrk and start modifying the screen and i have some questions:- We loose a lot of time deleting the events asigned to a control in the screen and in the .evt, acubench is a bit slow in that aspect or at least the way we use it, selecting the control, going to event tab, entering in the "..." button (it takes a bit to open the .evt for each control and event) and deleting the code we not going to use in that control. When the print preview appears and you click on the Close button, the preview closes and then reappears. We have to click the Close button again to get the preview to disappear for good. I was able to set the Header and Footers for the current version of Excel(2003) that I have on my computer. According to the online documentation on the MSDN website about Excel 2007, the PageSetup property is part of the Worksheet Object, so I am not sure why I am getting an error? Does anybody know if there is a setting in Windows that controls this? We have made sure that the user has full permissions in the root directory. We can create Folders in the root, just not files. Even if we try to create a shortcut in the root directory, windows says we do not have permission to do so.This problem came up because our application creates a lock file in the root directory to prevent more than one instance of the application running on a single PC. I know that we could make a code change to use a sub directory for the lock file, but we were hoping we would be able to get around doing that.Anybody have any ideas on changing Windows to allow for file creation in the root directory?

The only way I see possible is if I connect a Microsoft SQL Server to to the ERP system via AcuODBC. Can I setup SQL Server as a client to the ERP's ODBC datasource. If I can, I can build the website around the MS SQL Server and perform queries on the SQL server to read and write data to it. This should result in the data being written back the ERP system. Is this understand correct? I would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

The first one is the size of the display screen that calls the preview. When the first preview is closed, the second one displays as a small box on the top right corner of the crt. The program works fine, accessing the appropriate table and reading the records (rows). The problem is that it is incredibly slow!The process takes more than 2.5 hours to sequentially read 12,000 transactions in a test environment. Once in production, the daily transaction count will be 75,000 transactions across several company databases. Obviously, I need a different approach.I don't know if I should continue to search for a solution within AcuCobol or perform some sort of utility operation outside of AcuCobol. My preference is to use AcuCobol because all the criteria that defines which records should be extracted from the Pervasive databases are defined by information stored in Vision files. The code examples work fine when the key is unique (primary key, etc). However, if the secondary key is a duplicate and there are indeed duplicate records in the file (many of them), the recommended code acts erratically.I am beginning to think the best solution is to remake the file and eliminate the duplicate key by appending the primary key.
