Hello! We just upgraded to a new version of python on Z using mini-conda. It worked great. The only issue we have is that pip doesn't seem to be included in the new install. Is that correct? Is it hiding elsewhere or is this a DIY kind of thing where we'll have to download from elsewhere and install? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!!
My first glance at MiniConda. It appears to be customized on a single system installation concept. Historically we have installed the OpenSource tools easily into each products own ZFS dataset mounted on the maintenance path. Propagation to all the other systems occurred via DFDSS backup of said ZFS dataset to be restored and renamed as required on each target system. In simple terms can anyone document how this install/maintain/propagate process could be performed using MiniConda in Z/OS.I have started reading the User Manuals @ https://docs.conda.io and my initial impression is that it is similar in concept to APT in DEBIAN LINUX.Additionally what firewall rules would I need to get this working?RegardsBruce------------------------------Bruce HewsonCitibank------------------------------

When installing miniconda via OMVS from a 3270 session there are many times when the INPUT indicator displays on the screen. If one presses ENTER then those enter commands are buffered resulting in a problem at this prompt:Configure to use Rocket's secure conda server? [Y/n] This prompt should require an explicit reply and not just accept a probably buffered enter to mean Y.Please------------------------------LionelDyck
What is the recommendation for how to deploy a specific level of Python, a specific level of Git, and a specific level of Bash to one lpar? And then to deploy different levels of each to a different lpar?Do I create an environment for each lpar in its own filesystem (conda create -n lpar1 .....) and then deploy (aka copy) that filesystem to that lpar? Then repeat for lpar2, etc. ?When I do that do I have to do a conda activate lpar1 on lpar1 or conda activate lpar2 on lpar2?Are there any gotcha's or concerns?------------------------------Lionel Dyck

The Launch Talk about great timing! Just four weeks after starting with the company, Micro Focus held their largest event of the year – Universe. I was too new to be a presenter and everyone else was incredibly busy, so you might say I was left to take full advantage of the Universe by myself. I hope you’ll enjoy seeing what the Universe looked like from my perspective. Let’s start our tour with CEO Stephen Murdoch’s opening keynote featuring Jaguar Racing’s Formula E. Of course, he spoke about the effects of the pandemic, but I was most impressed with how he turned the challenges into opportunities for Micro Focus and our clients. Businesses already knew that they needed to transform their technology, but the timer had run out. The pandemic made adapting to the immediate issues and preparing for an increasingly “dynamic” future simultaneously urgent. The time for digital transformation is now. My Galaxy: AMC Neil Fowler (VP and GM of AMC) mentioned two things that reall

Good morning,I have install git using miniconda. This install process using miniconda is very easy, and I like how it sorts out the pre-reqs. Getting back to topic I am in the process of install zGIT, which is a ISPF, ZOWE and ZOSMF interface for Git. The problem I have is that as part of the customisation, I need to reference the directory where Rocket Software's Ported Tools was installed. I am not sure where this is as I can see references to Git in several bin directories. Any suggestions on where I should be looking? zGIT wants $GITBASE to be something like /usr/rocket/miniconda where I install both miniconda and git(through miniconda)Some of the directories match..... but not allThanksBen------------------------------Benjamin Thompsonz Client ArchitectIBM------------------------------

Hi all,I've successfully installed PHP v5.4.4 into my OMVS environment and I've also successfully created an instance of IHS (IBM_HTTP_Server/9.0.0.6) in my z/OS 2.3 environment. I'm at a loss when it comes to integrating PHP into that HTTP server instance. I know there will need to be changes to my httpd.conf and that I'll have to create some sort of php.cgi file, but I cannot find any specifics when it comes to this. Does anyone have some basic PHP/IHS integration documentation which would at least get me to a point where a index.php page would successfully get parsed by the PHP engine? Thanks for any help or guidance,Andrew------------------------------Andrew ArentsenAcuity Insurance------------------------------
My environment is z/OS 2.3 with IBM Apache HTTP Server (Version 9). I installed the latest version of PHP (7.0.5) using Rocket's Miniconda package manager. I tested it from the OMVS Shell and it works fine. I queried it for the version it is currently and it comes back with the correct response (7.0.1) and so on and so forth. The trouble I am having is getting to connect to PHP from the HTTP Server. I am new to PHP and I tried to understand from the distributed world on how the two are paired together, i.e. Apache Server and PHP. It seems to be fairly straight forward in that world. There seem to be two ways of invoking PHP with Apache (1) PHP as Dynamic Shared Object (DSO) application and the other as Common Gateway Interface (CGI). The recommended way seems to be the DSO. To go the DSO way some directives in Apache need to be set like the LoadModule Directive which looks like LoadModule php5_module /usr/local/apache/lib/lipphp5.so But I can't seem to find any m
