I wonder if anyone has any experience of using the same library for both Baseline and Production? The manual recommends this as a valid scenario in certain circumstances, but doesn’t expand upon how precisely it is accomplished – "If your production applications run at the same site as your baseline libraries, you may not need to set up separate ChangeMan ZMF production libraries. Remember, ChangeMan ZMF baseline libraries can be standard PDSs and can be accessed by external tasks. Eliminating ChangeMan ZMF production libraries where possible could result in significant DASD savings."The obvious answer would be to set up your baseline level (0) library to be your production library. Whilst this works to an extent, it doesn’t do the Baseline Ripple, as this process compares the staging library to baseline after installation in to production. As baseline is production in this case, there are no differences and hence no baseline ripple. Thus is it not possible to book out earlier vers

We just got the db2 option for our ChangeMan installation and I waswondering if CM would handle changes to tables and indexes, like it does for triggers and functions.I can see a potential customization using a specialized control card library, but I am looking for out-of-the-box functionality.#db2tablesindexes#ChangeManZMF

Question posted 4/23/08 by Duane ShieldsDetails:We are running ChangeMan ZMF R5.3. We had integrated CA JCLCheck 7.0 to be part of the ChangeMan process. We are having a situation in ZMF v6.1.2 where the version and modification numbers for a component on the component history are not the same as the vv.mm on the baseline PDS for this component. It seems something's out of sync. Has anyone any comments on that?#ChangeManZMF#vvmminvalid

Discussion posted 3/28/08 by Serenity ThompsonDetails: braleighkyI am running Change Man v5.6.1 and trying to find a way during checkout of a source component to see if member name's match the first 6 characters with the name in another library that contains the automated balancing procedure for that source. I would like to notify the user that there is an automated balancing procedure with the same name as the source and let them know they should verify whether it should be updated due to changes to the source member. If anyone has any ideas that they could share that would be appreciated.Posted 1/11/2008 1:51 PM#ChangeManZMF#oldforumpost#postd165f2f7f9
Question posted 9/18/08 by Veasna ChimDetails:Is anyone using OOCoD (On/Off Capacity on Demand) with ChangeMan ZMF at their shop? We are on z/OS 1.9/ISPF 5.9 and our ChangeMan ZMF version is 5.5.3. If yes, can you share your experience with me (good, bad, lessons-learned)? We are going to be testing the compatabilit of OOCoD with ChangeMan ZMF at our shop in the next month and wanted to get some 'foresight' before then. We would appreciate any input from anyone here on this ChangeMan ZMF forum. My contact information is below in case you want to directly correspond with me But so far, these are the questions we asked Serena Support and their responses. Thanks!:1. Do you have other customers using OOCoD? Not that we know of. We license as "not to exceed nnn mips". 2. Are there any known problems, conditions for using this feature (ex: do we need a new license)? If the serial number changes then YES. Otherwise NO. 3. Will ChangeMan ZMF 5.5.3 fail? NO. 4. Will ChangeMan ZMF 5.5.
Discussion posted 3/28/08 by Serenity ThompsonDetails: lbjergesWe currently use stacked revere deltas to some extent as a baseline library type. In the future we will probably increase its use since we are thinking of converting Librarian ARC-masters to stacked reverse deltas. All this works fine, however there is a small problem that I would appreciate if anybody has any thoughts about. This is the scenario:When we delete components in Changeman we don ́t really like to erase them physically due to audit rules concering source-code (like SRC, like CPY and so on). These "deleted" components we would like to scratch from Changeman controlled baseline libraries BUT store, along with their history, in "shadow" libraries outside of Changeman. When using Librarian as a means of baseline storage we are able to do a utility COPY of the member and the a subsequent -DLM (if the Copy worked). The resulting "shadow" library will then be accessable by means of normal Librarian functions (batch or

Register at http://www.serena.com/company/news/usergroups.html.Abstract: ChangeMan ZMF is the industry’s most powerful mainframe SCM tool, delivering a central point of control, consistent change lifecycle methodology, increased accountability, and protection of software assets. While these capabilities are crucial for developers, those who are required to correct application failures or poor performance often rely on Operational Productivity technologies. These technologies help ensure the smooth performance of business systems, and when problems occur, they help identify the root cause of an application failure.Traditionally, SCM and Operational Productivity technologies have been seen as “bookends” for the production environment. But the unification of these tools can provide a holistic view of the entire production env
