Problem: This can be done in two ways: 1)  Implementing the Windows CreateProcess API  for which a demo is attached. 2)  Implementing the library call routine:  X"91" function 35 library routine Resolution: 1)  CreateProcess API call.  Attached is a demo showing how to use this call. For further information on the CreateProcess API go to: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dllproc/base/createprocess.asp 2)  X"91" function 35 library routine This routine carries out an EXEC call to the specified program file which executes it. The syntax used is: call x"91" using  result                           function-code            &nb

Hello Everybody, I try to accept the postbody from a POST-Request in a cobol program. With a GET-Request everthing works fine (with "field a pic x(5) identified by fielda"). I get all the expected data. But problems occur with the POST-Request . I tried Chris Glaziers Cobol-Example (LInk:  Calling COBOL program using AJAX with POSTed data  )In the mentioned buffer I got only NUL-Data. Chris Glaziers Example show the accept to values from the environment. This works great. My Postbody is a normal Json-structure with the length of 212 Bytes. After execution of the Post-Request the received content-Length  for example shows 212 Bytes. The accept-buffer for the POSTBODY contains 212 NUL-Bytes. I am really confused.  I warmyl welcome a solution for this problem.  Thank you Roland Stein

hey, I am trying to create a CWS which have multiple ODO in structure, While executing the service I am getting below error which I believe probably due to the initialization issue, Do I need to initialize the complete array ? 230430 12043252 25200 DINESH CASSP0014S Process termination due to RTS error.Execution error : file 'DFHPITP'error code: 114, pc=0, call=1, seg=0114 Attempt to access item beyond bounds of memory (Signal 11) 12:04:32

This article explains the various reasons an RTS 114 Attempt to access item beyond bounds of memory might be generated. Problem: A process can only address memory which it has allocated. When a process tries to address memory it has not allocated, a SIGSEGV or SIGBUS signal is generated by the operating system. The RTS catches these signals and processes any posted signal handlers for the signal. The default RTS signal handler produces the RTS error message: Execution error : file 'name' error code: 114, pc=p, call=c, seg=s 114 Attempt to access item beyond bounds of memory (Signal n) -- where n is 10 for SIGSEGV and 11 for SIGBUS. Resolution: These signals are usually generated due to either memory corruption or/and invalid pointer usage (in either COBOL or C). Memory corruption involves writing beyond the end of some allocated memory. This memory could be specifically allocated by you us

Program contains : 10 TIP-LIABILITY-ARR PIC X(2) VARYING. ... EVALUATE TIP-LIABILITY-ARR ... WHEN 'R' ... WHEN 'NB' The evaluation was working in Server Express 2.2 but is not working in Server Express 5.1Server Express 5.1, always checks 2 characters, and therefore tests with only one character (eg WHEN 'R') fail.To make the program work the source needs to be changed to: EVALUATE TIP-LIABILITY-ARR (1:TIP-LIABILITY-LEN ) Is there a compile directive to get the same behavior in Server Express 2.2, in Server Express 5.1, without changing the program source code? I have an activated license named "COBOL Server SOA (Production)(PA)" and the product Visual COBOL Development Hub 8.0 installed on a SUSE Linux Server. When I try to compile a Cobol program with cob -x ... I always get the message "1889-S License failure: no license available." I found a solution with a blank line in the ces.ini file but there is no blank line. Also I tried restarting both licensing services. Nothing works for me. Do we have the wrong license or is it another problem? Thanks!#COBOL#VisualCOBOL

Hi,  although Net Express was no longer supported under Windows 10, we had no problems there. Under Windows 11 we unfortunately get crashes (C++ runtime exception) when we use the Windows API call SHBrowseForFolder. It seems that the crash depends on when MFOLECL.DLL is loaded. Has anyone already had such experiences? Regards Wolfgang

I use ESQL with ODBC. In the main-application I have a connect to a database. Works. When calling a sub-cobol-application, do I have to connect again? And do I have to close the connection in the sub? If not open again, how can I find out if there is a connection, because not all main-applications are using a database.

COBOL is here to stay. Make sure it’s part of your strategy.  According to recent research, COBOL is here to stay. Over 90% of respondents said COBOL systems are highly strategic to their business. More than 80% believe COBOL applications will be around for at least another decade. And while COBOL applications remain the backbone of Enterprise IT, businesses need to be confident that these applications are secure, that they can support their IT infrastructure strategy, and that their workforce has the skills to maintain them. But, with end-of-life events now affecting many UNIX systems and the drive towards commodity IT platforms and the cloud, pressure is mounting to ensure that COBOL applications don’t become the weakest link in the business. So, what’s your next move? Delay is not a strategy. Now is the time to lay the foundation for the next era in your COBOL application strategy. Move up to Visual COBOL. Take advantage of commodity (x86) hardware and give y
