We need to update LCSNAME due to the way we're having to do our upgrade.  Unfortunately, we only have the binary .cob file.  Does anyone have the source or a way to decompile the .cob file?

I appreciate any assistance,

Unfortunately, that's not possible.  Even if it could be decompiled, it would look like an assembly language, and not COBOL.

I don't know what LCSNAME is or what it does. The only thing I can suggest is that, if the changes are fairly minor, you can put a wrapper around it to fix whatever needs to  be changed.  That might be simpler than re-creating it.

Thank you Uwe.
(there are still some of us that speak Assembler).

I echo Uwe's question: "What is the function of LCSNAME?" Since you are asking this question in this forum, I'm wondering if it is something that Liant support provided to people.  Does LCSNAME lower case a name? Can you show us being used in a program?

The best my co-worker, , can tell all that’s done is an empty operator field is passed and then it returns the value of ‘LCSLogName' or the string ‘GUEST’.

Do you think that LCSLogName is an environment variable?

We have no idea what the program does.  All we have is the .cob file.

Hmmm. It is not an RM program, so the development team is in the same boat.
