Hi Unifacer,

I am in the process to define a renewed Standard&Guidelines, following current terminology a "framework", to be used to develop a Uniface 3tiers web application:
- the front-end must be Uniface DSP/USP based
- services and reports will be Uniface reused from application(s) currently in production

Possible inclusion of third part external frontEnd/services/reports as:
- External complete app integration
- StoredProcs from (R)DBMS
- Services completely developed in other languages
- External reporting tools integration
- ...
are welcome but they should be integrated into an ALL Uniface environment.

The big question is: today which set of Javascript libraries to be integrated with Uniface and why ?

I know the question has no simple answer, expecially the WHY part, probably requiring a book with hundreds of pages but I will appreciate any answer or tips will be posted here.

Thanks!

Best regards,
Gianni

Hi Gianni,
I gave this some days before answering, because I don't have that much to offer. Interesting question, but your question could be a bit more specified.
Are you searching a library that easily would integrate with a  Uniface database backend, easily utilising the prebuilt Uniface model and database procedures, or would you just use some other Uniface built services, ie. also rebuilding the backend with other products than Uniface.

Somehow I think that Uniface has never opened up in that way, especially not to use the database backend.
Iain had some interesting project going on, building a "REST call in web service for a 3rd party to access some data"...

Hmm, this was not a good detailed "answer", but neither was your question  :-).

Hi Roger,

thanks for your answer.

I've amended my original post to clearify the basic environment is going to be ALL Uniface.

Possible inclusion of third part external frontEnd/services/reports as:
- External complete app integration
- StoredProcs from (R)DBMS
- Services completely developed in other languages
- External reporting tools integration
- ...
are welcome but they should be integrated into an ALL Uniface environment.

Take my post as: what's up when reviewing a 3tier Uniface framework as of today?

I hope my question has a more defined perimeter now...

Regards,
Gianni
