From Product Managment we received an interesting document about currency updates in the upcoming Uniface versions 10.4 and 10.3.03. It is available at Uniface 10.4/10.3.03 currency updates.

Hi Jan Cees,
first reactions:
- I am pleased with Docker support.
- I am very pleased with newer SQLlite driver because I've opened a wish on it; I hope it will enable to expand possibile usages of Uniface Community Edition. Let me be curious about "field datatype mapping" effective implementation for this newer driver.
To me it sound a little bit too early to phase out:
- Windows 7
- RedHat 6.x
- Oracle 12c R2
IMHO they are ALL still too widely used.
BTW: I've also helped a VAR with MySQL 5.6 few weeks ago.
Regards,
Gianni

Hi Gianni,
Cleaning up items from the PAM is something we do not do in patches, only service packs and above - it has been two years since the last round. For 10.4 and 10.3.03, there have been two main criteria applied
1) Does the vendor still offer full support for the platform or database? Although some premium contracts available from the vendors for security updates etc., they are limited.
2) Does the platform support a C++11 compiler? A number of the products we integrate with to supply Uniface's functionality require us to use C++11 for their latest (and most secure) releases. Another advantage of updating is to allow us to also benefit from the new compilers and features they offer.
Kind regards,
Mike
