I have a drop-down list in a multi-occurrence entity. We set the backcolor, forecolor using $properties. Whenever the field gets focus, it reverts to "white", and nothing I do can get it back to the color it was prior to leaving the field. I have tried, LFLD and LMO.

I am not sure that I understand the described issue. Which part of the drop-down list reverts to "white"? And do you see the expected colors when the field loses the focus again?
When a field gets the focus then it will show as selected. By default a drop-down list will have a blue background and a white foreground color when it has the focus. In case the drop-down list should look different when selected then you have to change the BackColorSelect and ForeColorSelect properties.
