Yes, it is necessary to  migrate first to 8.4 before you can migrate tot 9.4. The Uniface Guide tells you how to do that. Migrate is a big word. You only have to export your repository from 8.2, import it in 8.4, compile etc. your application, export it from 8.4 and than import it in 9.4 That's all.

because it's a runonce issue all you need is a 8.4 installation CD or ZIP (and a valid uniface license).

Just install uniface using SOLID as the database (their evaluation license is enough for our purposes).
We will work in the project directory created during the installation.

Export all your reporitory (except DICT, PRINTER, SYSENV, ...) from 8.2.

Start the 8.4 database service

Start the 8.4 development
Import the 8.2 file
Export all so we have our 8.4 stamped export file

Store this file in a secure place

Stop the 8.4 database service

And it's "Time To Say GoodBye" to the 8.4 installation.
